I love the people I work with daily! My coworkers and managers are pleasant, smart, and always willing to help. Upper management is stuck in a "this is how it has always been done" loop. This mentality shows up in vendor selection, employee retention, and culture. The company uses inferior vendors/products if there is a prior relationship, retains employees/vendors that are not able to do/willing to do thier jobs, and has lost great employees due to a lack of flexibility and career advancement (reasons for leaving are based on conversations with only close coworkers, so take these with a grain of salt). This is a well established company with many great benefits and work environment, but it is a full time on-site workplace with a business professional work attire policy (suit and tie every day). It also still offers a pension, though I am too young to speak to the quality of the pension. Womens health benefit coverage could also be better. For all it's faults, this is a great company to work for day-to-day and I would recommend it to others.

Overall it was a nice place to start a career in the financial industry. However for me, I only wanted to do investments and they focused a lot on life insurance which I wasn’t as passionate about. I left W&S only for that reason. If I wasn’t forced to sell life insurance I’d still be working there.

I don't get paid enough as a tenured rep and they hired new people who are getting supervisor positions and paid significantly more. It's infuriating and they don't care.

The benefits are good (free lunch, pension, affordable health insurance) and there is good job security. The culture is outdated and the company resists change. The attire is business professional and there is no work from home flexibility at all. There is a "big brother" culture and very little trust in employees to do their job.
