Work is work

Featured review

Western Express selected this as a representative review
Don’t believe all the negative they say about the company. Every company has it flaws there is nothing pretty about trucking driving. It’s not peaches and cream. As long as you have that in your head this is a great company. This is the only company that will let you go solo after 70hrs with your trainer if you are comfortable. When you go learn all you can.

Thank you for your 5 star review! We appreciate you and everything you do.

Driver Manager

Let me see if short and sweet. As any employee for this company, they do not care about you. You are just a number in their eyes. When you reach out to the CEO for help and they don't care, time for you to stop caring about your job. 80 hours a week for nothing.

None

Cons

Easy going place

If you are looking for a company that will not ride your back. This is the place. Don't believe hype at the company provided terminals during orientation. At this company you get what you give.

A place to work if you need it

For me, it wasn't as bad as others, but it could've been better. If your in the northeast prepare to be delivering a lot of water loads. Trucks only go up to 66/67mph, no inward facing cameras, no refrigerator or inverter. My DM wasn't bad, he tried to get me loads and keep me moving. However, you will end up sitting at some point and the pay wasn't great. If you need experience you can get it here.

Pros

Don't micromanage you too much, they will hire just about anyone

Cons

Low pay, they want to give you 34hr resets instead of a two day weekend like their recruiters tell you, sometimes sitting an entire day or weeked waiting for the next load, night dispatch and breakdown seems to be nonexistent, if you have a breakdown and you're not under a load you don't get break pay

Our owner operators are not under forced dispatch and are able to make their own schedule. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to your driver manager or you can always reach us at HumanResources@westernexp.com with any suggestions on ways we can improve.

Entry level trucking company

Pro - they do not want to talk on phone. Pro - everything is done on TabletsCon - Tractors are a lot older than advertisedCon - equipment is not well maintainedCon - relay drivers would pass off OOS trailers to you due to lack of experience.FYI -- much more enjoyable as team then as solo.Solo - no miles, long delays and long repair times at terminalsTEAM - They ran the tires off the truck. Pushed repairs thru shop to keep us running! D & H & run baby run!!! 😇

Pros

Teams Great

Cons

Equipment not maintained

Non productive for a experienced driver

What is the best part of working at the company? Can’t think of one because they’re a very deceitful people in this company beginning with the recruiter What is the most stressful part about working at the company? You’re on the lowest end of the industry

Thank you for taking some time to leave your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with our recruiting department. Transparency is very important to us and we would appreciate any details regarding this sent to HumanResources@westernexp.com.

Really bad

Pay is to inconsistent, one week you can make 1000 and the next 3 weeks 300, don’t get fooled if you signed for regional don’t stay out for the weekend unless you want to run 2 weeks, just refuse the load and get home (they gonna say that you have to pay fuel surcharges but they never took it from my paycheck) and you will see how they never again give you those type of load, (based on my own experience), regional starting 40cpm, 46cpm in 3 months, but you barely get miles anyways.

Pros

You can reach management easier if you live by the terminals

Cons

The company itself.

Good to get experience

Good stepping stone recruiters tell you one thing to get you in the door but driver manager says differently and won't get the specific info you need

$500 for 60-70h a week teaming

The is no work for those who are new to the company and the priority is for trainers. Most people leave this job within 2 months. This is not to say you can’t make money with the company although you will need to be with them over a year to get on an account like CA-FL.

You will make money as a team driver or trainer

Western Express is a good second chance or a starter. Getting loads is ridiculous if you a solo driver. Team drivers and trainers make the most mon$

Don't go. Very simple. I am looking at a couple other companies to start over with.

What is the best part of working at the company?None… Support and dispatch were virtually ever there when needed most. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? No help in navigation . Did not care if I would go over hours. Online whil training, never got a day , well maybe 1 night staying in a rest stop. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Dispatcher didn't really care how the job got done. No help with drive time/off time mix. What is a typical day like for you at the company? There was no typical day other than always flying by the seat of your pants feeling desperate for guidance as a new driver.
