Contact Center Representative (Former Employee) –  Charlotte, NCMay 4, 2018
The company make things seem very comfortable the first day of New Hire. After training and you graduate to the floor, this is where you see the real side of how the employees treat you at WestMed. Trainers are not properly trained to train material to employee's. They have a serious issue with bugs. The team leaders are really rude and have nasty attitudes towards the people on their teams. I think there should be a better screening process done to see if someone really qualifies for any job vacancy with the company. Human Resources has no sympathy for their employees.
Pros
Pay range is pretty good.
Cons
Poor leadership skills with staff.

Patient Experience Coordinator (Current Employee) –  White Plains, NYFebruary 26, 2018
Good job starting out. No advancement. Pay is low. Coworkers seem distant. If you keep to yourself and do as you are told the work is easy. Patient complaonts fall on deaf ears most times.

it was a fun and family pace environment to work
Clerical Associate (Former Employee) –  White Plains, NYFebruary 19, 2018
At Westmed I learn about different cultures and it was such a friendly place to work. Very organized but there was no placement for growth because of the competition and relocate administrative facility. The billing, Eligibility and Precert. Dept. got move to North Caroline and if you needed to fit in those Departments, you'll have to move and I couldn't move, not even as an intake coordinator because there was no vacancy for those positions.
Pros
Paid vacations, holidays and you'll used your PTO as you desire

Do yourself and favorite and don't do it!
Worker (Former Employee) –  Charlotte, NCFebruary 9, 2018
Westmed pays slightly above average for its industry but you will owe back dearly for that slight advantage!
The company is a pyramid run by fake, slithering, gossiping, vindictive, conniving, and unprofessional snakes!

Their philosophy is "The Westmed Way".. which basically means you're to bend over backwards and take what's coming or you won't last in their company.

They want yessirs and zombies. If you have half a brain and a voice you're considered disgruntle. They want tattle-tells, guppies, and common day slaves.

They have a bonus structure that is setup anticipating failure. Clearly stated, the billing department is revenue management. Anytime you have a goal of an expected monthly collection amount you usually have an equally encouraging monthly bonus for goals met and exceeded. Westmed does not have a monthly bonus, does not have a quarterly bonus, does not have a semi annual bonus.... They have an annual bonus which comes about a week before Christmas and measures every aspect of what you do, to include the personal opinions of peers (which they use to intimidate and back-buck you into submission of the Westmed way) and anything less than perfect reduces by 50% or totally eliminates your bonus. For instances, if someone overheard you having a conversation and misinterpreted it... then goes to management who them goes to your supervisor, they're "required" to have a conversation with you "to better understand" the situation. They'll tell you, it's not a write-up but because it is a discussion they have to notate it in your file. Then they'll use it or
more... any other thing of the sort to denial your bonus.

The management is rude, professionally incompetent, and fuel a negative environment amongst colleagues. this includes the immediate supervisors, Human resources, and directors. They show lots of favoritism and perception rules in Westmed.

So your best rule of survival should you proceed is to salute but not to softly or loudly or it will be misinterpreted. Speak to all management with a smile but be careful not to speak to coworkers too long, especially those who don't "conform" or it will be misinterpreted. Stay in your seat and do your job but don't be so busy that you cannot speak to the social snitches.... butterflies floating around or it will be misinterpreted. Be ready for unproductive meetings, unanswered questions, and contradictions from management... Don't question them or it will be misinterpreted. This is a revolving door and road to nowhere!

Nursing (Former Employee) –  White Plains, NYOctober 24, 2017
Gossiping staff members, untrustworthy women in very small department. Medical assistants doing nurses jobs that have no licenses and not in the scope of practice. Nurses last for about a year and leave due to the one medical assistant bully. Nasty staff members that are the worst and just coming to work is torture. I don’t understand why management does not get rid of the the person that is the issue in that particular department. I ended up getting fired due to that person. Not the best place to work. 9 to 9 1/2 hours of pure misery.
Pros
Fun working doctors.
Cons
One bullying medical assistant.

Clean, professional workplace. It was a great experience.
LPN - OB/GYN DEPARTMENT (Former Employee) –  Rye, NYJuly 25, 2017
This is a multi-specialty BIG medical conglomerate. I worked with excellent doctors that were willing to teach you and encourage advancement throughout the group. It was a VERY busy practice of 15 physicians. They do need to train their medical assistants to be more professional and caring of the patient's needs tho. management is pretty rigid, and although they say they are open for suggestions from staff, in the time I was there, little or nothing was changed. There was a lot of favoritism with certain employees which was discouraging, and difficult to advance past a certain point.
Pros
Excellent doctors to work with
Cons
Some favoritism in the workplace in management made it hard to advance, short breaks, lack of patient understanding

Eligibility Specialist (Former Employee) –  Charlotte, NCJuly 11, 2017
What a nightmare. I worked here 4 months and it was very unprofessional. The manager set up 2 Eligibility Coordinators to train you but their main job was to watch when you went to and from your breaks and lunches. Two months or so in I realized that this wasn't the job for me and to get out as soon as I could. If they don't like your appearance (not your job performance) they will make it hard for you. Their motto is 'smart and nice' uhh no I'm sorry.

People stay for the bonuses and then quit. That is how awful it is.
Clinical (Former Employee) –  Purchase, NYMay 11, 2017
Simple. They offer huge bonuses because they know it's an awful place to work. The number of people that quit right after that bi-annual bonus is crazy! Everyone counts down the days til they can quit. Funny, you will be so glad when you go to orientation that you joined such a great company and then the truth sinks in- it's all about the money! Productivity, productivity, productivity at any expense. They do not care about the employees and beware that mangers are awful. They get even more $ and that is the only thing that drives them. It's like they sell their souls for money. Do not work for this company. You will regret it.
