Do not work here
Radiologic Technologist (Former Employee) –  Bradford, MAOctober 10, 2018
The entire staff is rude and unhelpful. The building itself is beautiful, but I used to dread going there, because the work culture is so bad. Everyone talks about everyone else, and no one will take responsibility for their actions. No one who is above you will even make eye contact with you, or give you any praise when you go above and beyond. Unless your part of the 'in crowd' and worked there since the beginning of time they treat you like garbage. Always understaffed, everything is done with old technology and inefficiently. My direct boss never had supervisor training and was SO UNPROFESSIONAL and a nightmare to communicate with.
Pros
Pay was decent.
Cons
Understaffed, old technology, 0 teamwork, disgusting food.

Poor Management/Stressful Work Environment
Dietary (Former Employee) –  Westborough, MAMarch 22, 2018
The Whittier management team only works to benefit themselves and employees tend to suffer in this facility with short staffing issues and no consequences to rude behavior. Multiple employees have reported that PILB changes and raises are often very late and slow to process. Favoritism is high in this facility. Instead of working as a collaborative, multidisciplinary team for the patients, staff chooses to be disrespectful to those in other departments.
Good place to get your foot in the door, but good luck staying for over a few months to a year.

Worst workplace ever
Cook (Former Employee) –  Marion, MAOctober 25, 2018
Management is not existent, disgruntled unhappy employees in the entire building. I would not put a family member in this facility. Nobody was ever held responsible for there actions, so therefore, everyone did basically whatever they wanted. Food service director and executive director did not do there job!

Floor care specialist (Former Employee) –  Haverhill, MAMarch 23, 2018
All Whittier rehab are horrible I've never seen management like this. They underpay the employees and ask so much from them. It would be fine to pay little and give the employees space but nope they like to pay you so little and wipe the floor with you! You also have like 20 bosses everyone likes to play boss they always have somthing to say too! I rather be homeless then work them! They are just in it for the money honey they don't care about the residents the food is like jail food! Where is all the money going? Not to the employees not the residents😂

Whittier: Horrible Place To Work
n/a (Former Employee) –  Ghent, NYNovember 4, 2017
Whittier is the most horrible company to work for. Corporate, administration and HR are the nastiest liars and will say anything to to trick their employees..They lie about salary and are only concerned about saving money and not getting sued. The nursing team, is nasty and the director of nursing blames his own disgraceful failures on everyone else. The people in general are nasty and unfriendly. Whittier is a company that is falling apart, with the most ridiculous turnover rate. That's because they don't care about their employees and once people realize that, they leave. Whittier is a disgraceful place, so don't work there.
Pros
There are no pros to working at Whittier.
Cons
Poor salary, poor management, poor corporate leadership, nasty employees, a corporate and administrative team that lies constantly to their employees.

Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital
Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) –  Bradford, MAJune 12, 2018
I can be a hard critic of acute care places and the people employed by them. Combine that attitude with an innate frankness, tell it like it is personality and sometimes the result can be much less than pleasant. When I say this small hospital and all the other employees of Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital in Bradford will make patients feel cared for and in safe hands is an understatement. The quality of nurses and their assistants is hard to beat and the care continues into the outpatient department and transitional care units. Whittier can help anyone, through any stage of recovery.

The location of the facility is easy for both employees and patients to access, right off Rt 495 and the physicians here are loyal and caring. The staff are nice, hardworking, dependable and treat patients and their families with respect they deserve when fulfilling their needs. The staff is caring, smiling and help to provide a good atmosphere for patients and provide the best possible treatment plans for optimal results. From the front desk, to the nurses, each and every one of them was courteous and professional and the doctors were caring, concerned and friendly while maintaining professional and efficient standards of service.
Pros
Professional collaborative co-workers, all striving toward excellence in patient care.
Cons
A little less than competitive salaries, in comparison to the cost of living for this area.

Low pay scale, lacking proper training and qualified people
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) –  Sippican, Marion, MANovember 7, 2017
This is a company where the paycheck does not match the job responsibilities. They are so far behind the times with their technology that it's sometimes very difficult to do the simpliest of tasks to get your job done. They are always understaffed because most employees are unhappy and end up quitting yet management doesn't seem to care. They have a revolving door with their new hires. They need to address the fact that they can't hold onto their employees. Training is very limited and when you ask for help you don't get it and are pretty much left to try and figure it out on your own. Benefits are offered but they are not that great. Health insurance has a huge deductible, 401K is not company matched, vacation accrual is okay if you can get your time off approved. (Some people get lots of time off even when they have no vacation/sick time left, yet others get denied time off when they have it available.) I gave the job a year hoping it would get better but unfortunately it did not.
Pros
There are none.
Cons
Low pay, poor training, lousy benefits

CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant (Current Employee) –  Haverhill, MADecember 5, 2018
I do have to say that the night staff is amazing...one big happy family. Our supervisors are the best at what they do hands down. Great people. I always feel as if the patients are getting the best care with the 11-7 nurses and staff

Don't work here
CNA/Caregiver (Former Employee) –  Haverhill, MAMay 7, 2018
I worked at Whittier rehab in Haverhill/Bradford MA as a full-time CNA 11-7 shift. We were always understaffed it felt like, more than a few times it was 1 CNA to 40 rehab pts. I also got blamed many times for not doing something that wasn't even my job, it was the nurses job. The employees talk behind your back to other people , it honestly felt like high school but all the older people were the ones behaving that way.

Worst job that I've had in my career!
Staff Member (Former Employee) –  Topsfield, MAMay 10, 2017
Where do I begin...
Management is awful - they play favorites and if you're not part of the in-crowd, forget about it. Management is disrespectful and lacks the ability to effectively manage staff. They manage by intimidation and threats.

Management focuses on the wrong issues with regard to employee development - it's a sink or swim approach. Total lack of training for employees and no opportunities for professional growth and advancement. If you're an employee who may be struggling, you're shuffled from one position to another. Again, with little to no training. When management is questioned about the training model of the company, they become defensive and are not open to suggestions on improving their systems.

No appreciation for employees. Yes, they recognize an employee monthly, but it's REALLY a popularity contest. Hard work is never recognized by management and certainly not awarded/compensated. Low pay for the crazy ridiculous hours worked. You'll be lucky to receive a minimal raise if any at all.

Think twice before applying to this company!
Pros
Able use vacation with adequate notice, Clean facility - more housekeeping staff on shift than CNA's.
Cons
Poor management, inadequate resident/patient to CNA staff at times, Lack of management presence on weekends

Horrible, unsafe place to work
RN Staff Nurse (Former Employee) –  Haverhill, MAOctober 3, 2017
I have never worked in such awful conditions before. Nursing management does not know what they are doing, we were overworked and so many med errors occurred. The place is crawling with insects, patients are restrained instead of being redirected and actually helped. The place is a revolving door, addicts just return a few days later, psych patients are released when they are not ready at all to go back into society. There is no security, staff is hurt a lot there. If you are a new nurse, stay away! There is no training, you might as well just hand in your nursing license now because you will make an error and there will be no one there to help you or advise you. Worst experience of my life!

This place should be shut down.

Poor Company to work for. Lack of Caring for the employees and hiding problems. Leadership lacks ethics and the Good Old Boy Culture reigns. No constantancy for firing employees all depending on the whim of the DON and HRM. New grads do not sign contract it will cause you grief.
