Hire older people and not sioooo many young and see how much profits go up.....Personality means a lot

I had to work every weekend and only got closing shifts in Portland Maine. But I am over 50. That means you are destined for cleanup duty only. If you are cute and young you will probably be fine.

I think that it depends on the leadership. My TL is very fair and rotates weekend days off between the decorators (I work in the bakery). Also if given notice, they generally will give you what you request off given it's not a holiday. I've been there only 4 months and have had generous amounts of weekends or a Saturday or Sunday off.

It's a grocery store. Yes, you have to be available at LEAST some of the weekend. That is true in *any* grocery store. However, most team leaders will try and give you one of the days off, i.e. work Fri, sat, off sunday, etc...
