Really corporate, thinly staffed, too busy, poor management
Engineer (Former Employee) - Albuquerque, NM - June 18, 2021
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI was a design engineer PE at Wilson and left on my own terms. You will be nonstop busy and be provided with either no help or unqualified help. It’s a good job if you like to work all the time; even on your time off during weekends. Your management will constantly set you up for working long hours by making unreasonable deadlines and promises to clients without consulting you. They will expect you to train and manage tasks, but give you no budget or authority to make a difference. They don’t train by the way, so you will either be coming with what you know or winging bad work. The management are always just appearing to care, to get you to work more hours, but are just angling themselves for that next rung on the corporate ladder and their Christmas bonus. All the lower level staff see this and have little respect for what they have to say. There’s some corporate jargon that they preach as well which you’ll just have to nod your head to while knowing it’s bs. Pay is ok, ask for more than you think they’ll give. It’s a 3% raise and 1 extra check bonus every year regardless of your performance. The retirement sucks and has a 5 year full vestment. The insurance isn’t that great either and is about $1000/yr from your check for single. It’s pretty much your average corporate gig working at Wilson. Your job is pretty safe there, but realize you will be working lots of unpaid overtime on salary and their clients/projects come first to your weekend. Already working your 40 and not working lots of extra to meet a deadline will get you fired.
Pros
Predictable expectations
Cons
Fake people galore

HR is a JOKE
Administrative Shared Services (Former Employee) - Albuquerque, NM - September 22, 2023
High school atmosphere with cliques, especially within HR. Very inconsistent with policies. PTO is based on how much your hiring manager likes you. A 10+ year professional will start with 12.5 days of PTO and a new intern will start with the max of 14.5. Leave time is well under the standard for the industry.
Pros
Intern opportunities
Cons
Negative and inconsistent practices

Nice environment
Purchasing Agent (Former Employee) - Addison, TX - October 20, 2020
I was let go because of a employee who refused to admit she was very lazy and tried to force her work load on me after refusing she made me seem disagreeable and giving her push back but she was not supposed to be giving me orders as that was not her job title nor description with the company. Therefore I was let go and was labeled dislocated worker. Very disappointed that this was not handled well.
Pros
Great company to work for, take time to train you
Cons
Need better supervision from corporate

Good place to be
Engineer (Former Employee) - Denver, CO - April 24, 2020
Wilson offers advancement to the hardest working individuals - as it should be. If you are motivated and self-starting, it could be a good match. If you have a young family, they are also good about accommodating that. Not all AEC firms are like that. Certainly many work you into the ground and you’re lucky to get a thank you. Not Wilson.

Mechanical and Civil Designer/Drafter (Former Employee) - Omaha, NE - October 24, 2019
kind of a clique like atmostphere. hard to learn a whole new program and be required to be proficient in it in less than 90 days when it takes months to learn in the first place.

Bad environment
Accounting (Former Employee) - Albuquerque, NM - March 16, 2019
The accounting and HR departments are the worst ever. The controller and asst controller are pathetic and have destroyed the environment with their negatively and bad mouthing everyone. No wonder all the good employees left. HR are just as bad and can't be trusted. Stay away from this place because they are a bunch of unhappy women and they will run you off.

Poor management
N/A (Former Employee) - Albuquerque, NM - March 10, 2018
This company has too many managers with poor communication skills and don't care about about their staff. All they care about is pleasing upper management just so they can keep their jobs. They also just terminate people just because they can and because they don't like a person when these employees are good employees and do their jobs. Human Resources is non supportive and Accounting has management with poor communication skills and bad attitudes.
Pros
Good pay
Cons
Poor management

Poor Management - Company going no where fast.
Design Engineer (Current Employee) - Denver, CO - October 18, 2017
The company makes goals, but the higher ups do not commit or change anything to achieve those goals.
Those within the senior management position are just that. Senior. They are not easily welcome to change or other's opinions.
Lower staff members are very easily replaced and so the company as a whole as a large turn over rate and so nothing really changes.
With new staff coming and going, there is no solid training program for new hires.
Compensations are good. 401k match, dental, vision, health, etc.
Poor PTO times and sick leave.
Pros
Compensations
Cons
Senior Management, no growth opportunities.

Awesome and Great place to work!
Administrative Assistant/SGR Division Support (Former Employee) - Colorado Springs, CO - August 22, 2017
Wilson & Co. is a great environment and all-around nice place to work. They are very fair and I wouldn't have quit, if I didn't have to relocate back to Texas. I was the receptionist and helped work on the Right of Way spreadsheet.
