Wisconsin Department of Corrections does not care about their workforce
Probation and Parole Agent (Current Employee) –  WisconsinFebruary 22, 2018
Not paid enough compared to amount of stress, secondary trauma, and education required. Management distrusts and is not able to give raises or compensate good employees. The best parts of the job are, regular hours, co-workers, and benefit package.

Good entry level.
Probation and Parole Agent (Current Employee) –  De Pere, WINovember 5, 2017
Department does not give new agents any real incentive to stay. Good place to get some entry level experience, then get out! Local managers may be positive leaders, but forced to enforce job duties that are almost impossible to comply with in desired timelines. Work must often be done haphazardly or completed late due to regional expectations.
Pros
Insurance / paid time off / retirement plan
Cons
Stressful / large workload / low pay

Probation and Parole Agent (Former Employee) –  Burlington, WIMarch 22, 2017
Being a Probation Agent was rewarding, at times stressful, yet enjoyable. It gives you a chance to understand human behavior and try to help people overcome their difficulties and understand themselves, the choices they make and their behaviors that lead to them being on Probation, Parole or Extended Supervision. There is never a quiet or dull day; rather it can be quite chaotic and sporadic. Time management is a must.
Pros
Flexible and health insurance
Cons
Lack of raises and incentives
