It has been great working here.

It is my 1st time working at a manufacturing company and I wasn't sure what to expect. Just like any good job there are days that are demanding, but they end up being the most rewarding . Culture is very important and we all work hard to make it fun and enjoyable. If you show up with a positive attitude and care, you will be rewarded.

Pros

Tons of events and ways to apricate each other., Autonomy to make improvements, Solid benefits and time off.

Cons

Not much

Enjoyable place to work, with lots of free lunches.

I enjoy working for work sharp. I have been with the company for 7 years and still feel like I belong and am happy to be part of the team. Likewise, I love the culture here and good people to work with and for.

Pros

Good people, lots of free lunches, good environment, & depending on the department 4 ten hour work week.

Cons

Short breaks.

Productive fun place to work. A lot of friendly people. The owner and lead managers are easy to get along with. Everyone's caring

I loved working here. It was a fun job. I had no experience at all before I started this job and I picked up on it fairly quickly. I would recommend working here to other. But clearly it's not for everyone. Some people say it's demanding but it's very fast paced. As long as you pay attention and work on your station you'll do great. When caught up where your at if others are struggling your able to help them get caught up They like working as a team instead of only for yourself. I love all the employees and mangers. There very strict on showing up to work on time as well as coming back from breaks. I would definitely recommend working here to others as long as your able to work in fast paced and sometimes under pressure.

Pros

Fridays free lunch. Fridays and Saturdays are both over time days.

Cons

30 min lunch instead of 1 hour.

Great culture and clear direction

Relatively small company that has clear communication. Everyone is made aware of the company strategic objectives and makes it very obvious what priorities are. Employees are encouraged to own their own experience working how they want to work as long as the job gets done. Culture is a major focus and management is bought into that fact.

Pros

Genuine effort to provide a positive work experience for all employees

Cons

family healthcare is ridiculously expensive

Great Culture and The Best Team on the Planet

Work Sharp has been my workplace of choice for over two decades. I am surrounded by coworkers who want to succeed and perform at their highest level every day. I am lucky to call many of them friends. You get out what you put into your experience here. Leadership does a good job of making sure we are all headed in the same direction as quickly and efficiently as possible and is understanding, even encouraging, when things don't go as planned. Fail up! Learn from your mistakes and grow as a person. Some companies have Core Values, but Work Sharp consistently lives them.

Pros

Open & Honest Workplace, Good People, Opportunity to Make a Difference, Strong Teams and a High Level of Communication

Cons

Healthcare can be expensive.

Unlike any other company, in a good way!

Own your own experience to the biggest extreme. This company culture is unlike anything else I've ever experienced. From the management down, the time and effort spent to make the workplace an open and honest culture is second to none. The company is filled with hard working heavy hitters that bring their A game to their positions but also are willing to support you when you need a hand or second look. While the culture at this company might not be for everyone, if you're exhausted from the level of 3rd party talk and gossip at your current company, this is a completely refreshing 180.

Pros

Great work from home support, Management is helpful and encouraging, It's okay to fail as long as you're trying

Cons

Healthcare is okay but expensive for family members

You get to be in control of your own experience

No company is perfect but this company allows you to captain your own ship. If you are having a bad time, it's up to you to address it. They don't just encourage open communication, the require it. The teams are slim but each person is really an expert in their field. The request to try something new, be different or update a process to make it easier or better is praised. Culture is a BIG thing for these folks, and the hiring process reflects that. The organization structure is also very flat, that can be good or bad, depending on what you are looking for.

Pros

open and honest culture, lots of team building and celebrations

Cons

No dental plan, pay isn't very competitive, no formal reviews

Honest Communication and Personal Responsibility

Work Sharp is a great company to work for that prides itself on quick honest feedback and open communication. Each position and department had different scheduling and working hour needs depending on the job requirements. Work Sharp is a very "own your own experience" work place which provides you the opportunity to advance into different positions and departments if you are willing to put in the necessary work. A lot of effort goes into creating and maintaining amazing company culture with interpersonal commutation trainings, company fun events and much more. In my experience, Work Sharp lives its core values. https://www.worksharptools.com/about/

Pros

Community feel, Decent Compensation, Open and Honest Workplace, Wfh

Cons

Commute

Amazing long-term company with a bright future

Work Sharp is a great place to work. Flat out. They consistently are in top Workplaces Rankings for Oregon, and do a ton to make it a great place to work--whether on-site or in Ashland or working remotely. The products are WOW, there is a balance of in office and mostly WFH during the pandemic, done in a way that is thoughtful to each coworker situation. The marketing is on point and they've been growing rapidly and expanding production in Ashland with a team there and also around the local Rogue Valley, US and globe. There is about a 40 year history, with the company family owned, and a bright future with a strong team from front office in marketing to design to quality/production. I've never seen a company work so hard to help employees feel heard and appreciated, spent so much time on interpersonal training to build an amazing culture and care that they are hitting the mark for every customer. There are many coworkers who started on the Production Floor who have worked and learned their way into professional and advanced technical positions. That feels very rare, but a lot of value is put on empower the team to learn and make the most of every opportunity. Most companies have Core Values of some sort, but Work Sharp actually strives to live them. FYI, Work Sharp was previously Darex.

Pros

Strong team, intentional and open culture, empowered to make decisions, resources to make a difference, efficient meetings, Wfh

Cons

Ashland is an expensive place to live, so a commute is often necessary for on-site workers

Jobs at Work Sharp

See more jobs

Lots of hours, decent compensation, carpal tunnel syndrome

The people are laidback and supportive of each other, but it's basically human working like machinery on assembly lines. Monotonous production/tasks/motions, mandatory overtime, strict weekly and daily schedules, frequent employee turnover, uncomfortable power dynamics, so on. Good gig to make quick money, but your labor is exploited at the cost of your physical well-being with little concern. Hired-on employees do receive slightly higher pay, average benefits, sick time, and paid time off. Temps get to do the same amount of work with the same hours without the compensation. It is possible but unlikely that you will receive raises or positions in better-compensated departments.

Pros

Benefits/slight raise if hired on, lots of hours if you want them

Cons

Mandatory overtime, employee turnover, strict schedule, physically taxing
