I've worked for this organization off and on for nearly 10 years. During this period of time it has evolved and continues to do so, earning Joint Commission accreditation, two national rankings as a "Best Place to Work," and national recognition for its palliative care program. Quality scores regularly exceed state and national averages. Management has shared salary benchmarking reports with staff so that we can see first-hand how YoloCares' pay compares to other similar independent hospice and healthcare providers. RN pay is usually at the top of the scale with the potential to earn bonuses for quality measures on every pay check. This place is not perfect, but it's the best I've seen - transparent, team focused, inclusive and top-notch.

This place is the definition of teamwork. If you want your work to have meaning and you're a life-long learner, you will love this place. The staff and management are outstanding. However, people who are low performers or carry negativity don't last long.
Hospice employee in Davis, CA

Care for patients, new hires, culture, environment and pay are all getting worse. This company thinks that they are the best hospice agency out there and that their care is the best…. Definitely not true. Very close minded when it comes to change, therefore their employees suffer. Their system has been the same for years, so many old forms, old ways that they’re not willing to let go of. Only time will tell until change happens, but before that, they will definitely lose some really good people in the company. They have been around for a long time, yet their census is very low. With that being said, low census says a lot about the company. Since the company want to grow, the leaders tend to be more cheap and unwilling to pay their employees better, especially their office staff. Also, they’re the only company that I’ve ever worked for that don’t do annual pay raise. They have hired so many new staff that do not have any hospice or healthcare experience— such an embarrassment for the community. CEO doesn’t even know his own staff, or what they do. It was such a good company before, things just definitely need to change.

Worked for this organization for two years and left for an opportunity to advance my career. I will forever be grateful for the impact the staff and patients at Yolo Hospice have had on my life. Truly the best job ever.
