Fun engaging the clients playing basketball, football, etc.
Shift Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Estell Manor, NJSeptember 12, 2019
The start of the shift can be very hectic depending on what staff is working, clients refuses to get up to go to school and when they do get ready they would refuse to goo out to the bus, running back inside the house slamming doors and throwing things around, assaulting staff. Management doesn't help out on the floor or stay to help cover a shift.
Pros
pretty much you can eat anything as long as it wasn't on the menu for dinner
Cons
you can break as long as you inform your co-worker that your stepping outside.

Kids are the reason of why i worked there to gain experience.
Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Newark, NJSeptember 6, 2019
Good place to get you brain started if you do not know anything about working with kids. If you are humble and don't mind being pressured to work eighty hours per week because te pay is minimum wage. the benefits are good. The staff does not care about the kids welfare and are not equipped with Trauma strategies to help the youth.
Pros
free lunches
Cons
over-worked, under staffed, disrespectful staff.

Good Place to Work for few years
Nurse (Former Employee) –  Paterson, NJAugust 24, 2019
It is not an agency that you could work for the rest of your career. The main reason is that they never give raises. So if You are going to work at YCS set a goal to do it for 3 to 5 years. Also make sure that you negotiate a rate with which you would be fine in 4 years. --It is stressful. May times you will feel that you are on your own.

PCA Personal Care Aide (Current Employee) –  Orange, NJAugust 21, 2019
Stressful work environment, could be combated by more hands on upper staff. Flexible hours/days. Can pick up a multitude of shifts throughout a weeks time period. Pay is terrible

The company is horrible and stressful and you are not compensated properly. The company management uses fear to motivated their employees. The children will physically assault you and leave you in pain. know, I was sent to the emergency room.
Pros
free lunch

Job security is a plus for YCS
Personal Assistant/Child Care Worker (Current Employee) –  Sawtelle NB, NJJuly 28, 2019
I love working at YCS but I hope to get paid fair, with my experience and level of education. There’s always overtime to balance my pay difference.
Workers are treated fairly in terms of work culture. Coworkers are excellent as a team. Most workers are doing this job because of their passion to improve the lifestyle of individuals that we serve.

Not a Pleasant Employment
SRT/RA (Former Employee) –  Newark, NJJuly 25, 2019
A lot of unfairness, favoritism, no room to grow unless you a favored through personal relationships. Very low pay only starting at $10.00 an hour. Found at fault for everything that goes wrong. The company is for self and does not back up their employees.

Low morale
Behavioral Specialist (Former Employee) –  Orange, NJJune 17, 2019
Too much to say... let me sum it up as briefly as possible. Ycs give management or service workers way too much caseload. I covered 3 different programs one was 45 mins apart from each other. The time schedule they prefer does not work with the program schedules. They hardly or never give you increases. If you received one consider yourself very lucky. Most top positions are held by males and if there's any money for bonuses...well, the people that actually do the work does not receive any. They spend resources on building new projects/ programs and ignore issues with the currents ones.
Pros
Experience
Cons
Unorganized & cheap

Hard working place
RESIDENTIAL SUPERVISOR (Current Employee) –  Newark, NJApril 16, 2019
A typical day at work can be good and stressful depending on management. People understand what they sign up for but we as the worker feel like they don't have the backs of their work when it comes to situations.

Behavioral Health Supervisor (Former Employee) –  2033 Sicklerville rd Sicklerville NJApril 1, 2019
YCS is a great company to work with if you are compassionate individual. It takes a lot of patience to work within the group home setting and you must be a patient person to do so.

Huge turnover and poor morale
Supervisor (Former Employee) –  South JerseyMarch 12, 2019
I saw so much turnover and resignation of good employees that it may be all new people by now. So many unhappy people and distrust of management, it was a very stressful place to work. Decisions are made at the top by people that do it know the children and do not care for the children at all. It can be very frustrating day to day to run out of supplies and food and managers don’t seem to care. They blame and get angry and point fingers instead of figuring out solutions or making changes. It’s all just a stressful workplace and the kids feel the stress of the employees and that is also unfair. Not a good place to work at all.
Pros
Kids are the best part
Cons
Management untrustworthy, high turnover

Do not bother
Clinician (Current Employee) –  NJFebruary 8, 2019
The agency is only focused on the money they can save. They do not genuinely care about the kids and their progress while in the program. RA Staff and program directors are undertrained and not qualified for their positions. Many of the workers engage in unethical behaviors. Programs accept kids that are not fit for the program and workers are expected to "figure it out". The workload is overwhelming. You do not get compensated for working from home. They will overwork you for little pay. You do not get the things you need unless you know the right people (work cell, quick IT services, etc.).
Pros
Always hiring, you can get away with almost anything, training opportunities
Cons
High turn over rate, huge workload, low pay, favoritism
