Inadequate training, poor management, stressfull, lots of pressure.
case manager (Former Employee) –  Spring Hill, FLNovember 10, 2018
BAD: Management has very unrealistic expectations of work load. Overtime is NOT allowed yet you are expected to do 50 hours of work within 40 hrs. YFA cares about numbers and who can fill the open positions. Very high turnover and burnout rate.
Not enough training and support of new hires. Poor upper management. some employees can be judgemental.
GOOD: Case management positions offer great learning experience if you are able to handle pressure at court and high work load. There is opportunity to help families come together and make a positive change.
Pros
Good learning experience
Cons
very high workload

Family Care Manager III (Former Employee) –  Brooksville, FLOctober 16, 2018
It is what it is... Your life is centered around your case load...Case loads are usually high due to turnover... Having a good supervisor and good co-workers relieves some of the stress related to the job.
Not recommended for people with young children...Can be extremely time consuming.
Time managment is a must!
Most enjoyable part of the job is assisting families with their needs and reunifying children with their parents.

Worst employment experience of my life
Accountin Specialist (Former Employee) –  New Port RicheySeptember 7, 2018
Think twice before submitting an application. If you apply for a position in the admin office, be prepared for a lot of stress, horrible management, non-stop attitude, and a toxic work environment combined with micromanagement. Salary sucks and you are expected to work extra hours even if your job description states 40 hours a week. Not flexible on emergency situations. If the lady boss makes a mistake, you will take the hit for her. No training whatsoever.
Pros
Health benefits
Cons
Toxic environment, horrible management

Horrible management, terrible pay
Therapist (Former Employee) –  New Port RicheyAugust 6, 2018
It's very difficult to accurately describe working at YFA. On one hand, working with the youth can be very amazing and you actually have a chance to change lives. However, on the other hand, the stress is insane, the pay is beyond horrible, and management is at times the worst I've ever seen. The amount that they pay counselors and therapists is so absurdly low that all the really good workers go running - unless they're masochists. Complaints about supervisors being completely unprofessional and acting unreasonably and even illegally go ignored by upper management. I greatly enjoyed my time with the kids there, but I had to leave due to a medical condition caused by my job there - which was handled so poorly by ALL management. We literally couldn't keep good staff there because of the lack of organization, communication, and good management. I would never, ever recommend YFA as a workplace for someone - unless I hated the person. Yeah - it's that bad.
Pros
Decent benefits, good interactions with the kids
Cons
Bad management, low pay, high stress

Unorganized and Dishonest
Accounting Clerk (Former Employee) –  New Port RicheyApril 2, 2018
Poor and dishonest management starts at the top and continues down the pyramid that is YFA. They have unrealistic expectations of there facilities and staff. When a staff member tries to enact change or help management realize oversights which lead the organization into trouble, those staff members are ridiculed and casually tossed aside. I’ve seem employees being told that their work performance is outstanding so that they feel job security, while at the same time management works towards replacing them. Hopefully all the recent turnover in upper management due to internal scandals will result in a management staff that cares about it’s employees.

Good Cause

Unorganized and Dishonest

You work in a fast paced high demand job of child welfare. The child is rewarding but it can become time consuming and could be at risk of work more than living life.

Constantly lied to about raises but you will stay at $11/hr forever. Inconsistencies with management, as she has no management experience. Highly stressful. Even as part time you will work full time hours with no benefits.
Pros
Outings with youth
Cons
Low pay, no raises, no benefits for part time

Family Care Manager (Former Employee) –  Hernando, FLFebruary 21, 2018
Work is from 7am-whenever! Working as a Family Care Manager is hard enough, but to be thrown to the wolves right out of training makes for a very overwhelming, stressful environment!! If you ask too many questions, management labels you as a needy and unable to figure things out. It would help if everyone would give the same answers, HELLO!! There are so many things you can do wrong that can completely devastate a family, so of course you will have 500 questions a day!! Also, it was not a very cohesive environment. Everyone is hanging on by their fingernails and it's a fend for yourself situation. Also, you spend a lot of time in court, which is horrible!!
Just know that any position with this company is all consuming and if you have a family, you will be too busy with your client's families to enjoy any time with your own!! You don't get paid enough to have your own family torn apart!!
Pros
You aren't stuck in an office all day
Cons
Too many to name!!

Certified Case Manager (Former Employee) –  Sarasota, FLOctober 17, 2017
Case management is a hard job itself with a high turn over rate however this company failed to provide appropriate support when needed to its employees and just continued to pile on more cases and demand a high standard of their employees. Those employees who were over worked and under paid for a very thankless job.
