CASHIER (Former Employee) – Los Angeles, CA 90046 – January 20, 2019
I liked the food. It was nice. The meat on the spinning thing was pretty tasty. I got a free meal on my break. I do recommend to work there if you'd like to try something new and outside of your area.
Cashier (Former Employee) – Los Angeles, CA – January 23, 2019
Zankou was a great place to work. Ill miss the free lunches and my coworkers. We had a special bond from working side by side in a busy restaurant. I was at the company for 9 years. the owners cared about us and wanted us to do well and to learn. There's always room to grow too if you want to move up.
General Manager (Current Employee) – Glendale, CA – December 4, 2018
Micromanaged, owners very rude and condescending to workers. Had not given raises to employees in over 3 years. Eliminated bonuses without notice to management.

The best thing all I can say is the manager is nice and awesome and the people you work with are better and fun time does go by quickly and fast paced
Shift Leader (Former Employee) – Los Angeles – October 23, 2018
Let’s start with the pros: They pay is fair & there is definitely room for growth. Free lunch meals, the food is amazing.
Cons: Management is in scrambles and that comes from the top. When corporate comes into the restaurants they nitpick the pettiest things and make brash decisions that don’t make sense on the fly. Terrible work environment, employees are able to act however they please with no consequences due to such a high turn around rate and being understaffed. It’s nice that they give people the opportunity to grow, however nobody will take the time to properly train the employees.
Stressful job with unorganized management, but pay was above minimum wage at the time so it was worth it
Cashier/Cook (Former Employee) – Los Angeles, CA – October 2, 2018
Zankou Chicken's food was great, no doubt about that. However, there was no air conditioning which was really annoying considering the fact that we all stand in front of a grill, a fryer, and 3 open flames. Even customers would ALWAYS comment about how incredibly hot it was.
Pros
great food
Cons
unbearable temperatures, unorganized, tips were always distributed in a manor that made you feel that you should've received more money, no payed sick days
Cashier/Customer Service (Current Employee) – Pasadena, CA – September 27, 2018
Very organized good team members every one is positive hardest part is keep up with orders and answer fones and taking order all at once My favorite part is the rush we get when we see plenty of customer to help and making them feel welcomed and have there food ready I'm less then 15 mins
A great place to learn new skills and work as a team
Shift Leader (Current Employee) – Los Angeles, CA – August 20, 2018
Being my first job, Zankou has helped me not only with learning how to properly handle money and special skills but also how to be more social and be a quick problem solver which are great in your daily life.
No direction or strategy and poor corporate office environment
Corporate employee (Former Employee) – Los Angeles, CA – August 1, 2018
Very poorly operated and no real business strategy. A real lack of work/life balance for corporate employees. They are expected to work 6 days per week and long hours.
Well behind when it comes to workplace culture and benefits. The culture isn't great with constant turnover.
Thank you for your feedback. Our corporate office team is never expected to work more than 5 days a week. We encourage our team members and provide tools to increase their productivity to complete tasks and projects efficiently in order to maintain a work-life balance.
We are also excited to roll out fun and exciting culture and engagement initiatives in the next few months! Stay tuned!

Cashier (Current Employee) – Van Nuys, CA – February 19, 2018
I enjoy working for the company because the co workers are all great people, but the management there is poor, and my store manager is not the best at scheduling and is hard to get into contact with.
Employee (Current Employee) – Vernon, CA – February 2, 2018
Everyone is really nice at the main office and you get to work with people who are good at what they do so you can learn from them. Its especially fun because its so fast paced and it feels good to support the restaurants
Cashier (Former Employee) – Los Angeles, CA – January 6, 2018

Cook (Current Employee) – Burbank, CA – December 22, 2017
Zankou is a great place to work. I get a long well with my manager and coworkers. We get free food everyday and pay is good. Management is friendly and the company is opening new locations. Very exciting place to work
Constant battle between the Family running it and hired help
General Manager (GM) (Current Employee) – Glendale, CA – September 27, 2017
Its very slow if you like fast paced. 80 Spanish speaking only staff. No SOP's or Training material, revolving HR and managers, No consistency, bills always paid late and you feel the doors can close any day.

work place drama
Cashier (Current Employee) – Glendale, CA – July 17, 2017
it is very stressful and overwhelming. I really do not recommend anyone working here. there is a lot of drama and if you do not know Spanish they will talk bad about you behind your back. also, it is really hot and it makes you in a bad mood and customers are extremely rude when they don't get their way if we have to charge for something.
Cashier (Former Employee) – Montebello, CA – June 28, 2017
When i was working at Zankou i was still in high school and they worked with my school schedule. my coworkers were amazing, and the customers were so sweet.
CASHIER (Former Employee) – Los Angeles, CA – December 8, 2016
My typical day at Zankou consisted of a busy fast-paced day. My co-workers and I got along very well. My customers had a smile on their face at the end of every transaction. I created a relationship with my customers and knew most of them by name. The most enjoyable part of my job was to interact with my customers and get to know them and their orders. The hardest part of my job was probably the first day because it was a busy day and I had to learn everything fast.
