Bad place to work but you got a job
Library Technician (Former Employee) –  Washington, DCJanuary 18, 2019
This is a job just to say you have one. It's ok but the management is so poor it makes people want to leave. Only thing that keeps people coming is the coworkers they work with.

A Job Only for Money
Team Member (Current Employee) –  Washington, DCJanuary 5, 2019
As of July 2018, the company has taken a downturn. The work has been stressful, corporate more demanding, and workplace injuries have increased (many employees have needed surgery in the same area). Your coworkers are the highlights of your job, but all the good employees are leaving in hordes.
Pros
Paid Time Off for Federal Holidays; Good Places for Lunch;
Cons
Need to work a month and a half to earn a vacation day off, Micro-Management; Management, Poor Benefits (Which are MANDATORY), Number Obsessed, Poor Listening Skills

This is a good place to work if you have your own transportation
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Alexandria, VANovember 14, 2018
Very busy, customer service, management is good, a diverse culture, hardest part of job is getting to work take almost 2 hours, I have to get up and 5: 00 am to get there by 8:30 and I get off at 5:00 pm but don't get home until 7:00 pm. They are getting ready to change the hours to 10:3010:30 am until 7:00 which means I won't get home until 9:30-10:00 pm because I take public transportation,

I did have a chance to grow with ZAI and learn how things in the corporate world work. The management is tight and the supervisors are professional and on the mark .

Run
CSR - Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Kingstowne, VAOctober 3, 2018
It's like you are back in the 1960 when minorities were fighting for their civil rights. You have to ask if you can go to the bathroom if you have used up your 30 minute break and will be told no if calls are waiting or if someone on break
If you need to go to the rest room and have used up your two 15 min break the time is deducted from your paycheck . Zimmerman they have went so far as to make a chart to show you how many minutes to subtract from your timesheet. My benefits are $600 a month just for one person making $15 an hour wasn't told until the first day that you would never get a raise until the Department of Labor says that you can. Would happen to cost of living rise? They are only looking for bodies run don't walk if ever this company contact you for interview.

Micromanaging at it’s best. Very stressful work environment a lot of favoritism. It’s almost like being in school. Stay away from this place! Upper management only gives you two bathroom breaks after you use those two up it’s coming out of your check..

Too much micromanagement, they don't really value employees and not many opportunities for advancement. Very disorganized management and it is stressful to meet call center requirements.

Working at Zimmermans was very stressful for me.
Accounts Payable - Payroll Administrator (Former Employee) –  Fairfax, VAFebruary 4, 2018
The work days was at least 10-12 hours and busy. I learned that you can't always trust your manager and what he/she tells you about the job. The culture at Zimmerman was very relaxed otherwise.

Awful company
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Kingstowne, VAJanuary 30, 2018
Management is petty. HR is useless and on top of that they treat you like trash. Benefits are way too expensive if you include your spouse or family. The contract manager is petty she won’t let you use the restroom or you have to code it as unscheduled time and NOT get paid for it. Disappointing experience.

Promotions based on relationship vs merit. Brown nosers welcomed. It's like watching the White house run their business. Those with the most experience rarely have a chance. Gossips are first in line for promotions. If you love to talk about people then you will have found your dream job.

Game of Favoritism
Data Entry Specialist (Former Employee) –  Fairfax, VANovember 6, 2017
I would stay away from this job at all costs. They have no sense of rules and decide to change and mold it as they see fit and to who they see fit. Its all about who is friends with who that will get promotions that are not deserved, and dont even try and complain to upper management because they start nitpicking everything one does and then find valid ways to ruin their days and any possible advancement. They find ways to hire their own friends or spouse (which would feel like a conflict because the drama that could evolve). Also, it seems that it is filled with people who are willing to tear another person apart to gain favor of the manager or even for their own advancement.

The only good part is that the job is easy enough that most of the time there is down time but there is that pressing issue of management being completely incompetent in what they do and then getting offended when one shows the errors.

It is a beyond stressful environment, filled with favoritism and hypocrisy. Avoid it at all costs.
Pros
Easy enough that there is down time
Cons
Everything else.

Contracts Manager (Former Employee) –  Fairfax, VAAugust 28, 2017
I left after four months due to personal family emergency. This is not a place that I would work long term. They really did not understand the role of a Contract Manager.
