What tips or advice would you give to someone interviewing at Zurich North America?

  • If it’s for VSC.... run the other way,

  • Don't worry about your knowledge of various underwriting / data entry / claims entry systems. I worked in General Insurance before Zurich, and when I started here I had the same amount of useful knowledge as someone who had never worked in insurance a day in their lives.

Also, just in general, don't psych yourself out of applying for a position because it looks like it's above your skill level! The job posting for my position looked absolutely terrifying, but turned out to be a slightly more complicated version of my last job... mostly because the system we were using at the time was built in the 1960s and made DOS look advanced (but it's gone now, thank goodness)!

  • In interviewing if you have experience in the industry be confident in your work experience and what the market value for your job title pays out there.

  • Keep records of conversations and agreements.

  • Excellent job culture.
