My sister is a server at a Buffet style restaurant in Missouri...she makes a whopping $3.62 an hour. People are eating out in tis economy, but many of them are NOT tipping at all. So $10.00 sounds really good.

I work at a big resort here in Scottsdale, AZ as a Banquet set-up. We currently get paid $11/hr starting with no grat. But the Banquet servers on the other hand gets <$5/hr but with grat. From what I hear they average around $25/hr and sometimes a lot more with the gratuity depending on the event. Now for us it seems unfair that we don't get part of that gratuity when we do a tougher job than these servers most of the time. We see them do a function and leave after 4 hours and still end up makin...

Restaurant waiters think they are the only "true" waiters. Banquet servers think they're better because they can handle more covers. Who's better?
Really confused if I'm getting gratuities as a banquet server at my new job. I'm getting paid by the starting wage at $13.35/hr (min. wage is $11/hr). The booklet says "banquet employee and food will not receive gratuities as gratuities are factored into their hourly rate of pay. This does not apply when these employees receive individual gratuities.... food and beverage employees who normally receive gratuities will be given their gratuities, less up to 4% of sales." I'm new to banquet serving ...
Hi all...anyone have a clue as to how long is should take 7 servers to serve a plated meal for 200 people???Let me know...is an hour and 15 minutes too long??? smiles
Staffing companies...not stuffing, are not making a lot of money off each person. As well, they are building the relationship with the client that the server can work for. No relationship...no server positions! We work just as hard, if not hard then some of the servers that we have placed, to get the openings! The issue at hand is there are different ways to be a banquet server you are either in-house or out sourced. With an outsourcing company (or "stuffing" company) you are able to work at mor...
You are either working for a temp agency which is the worst way to go-- low wages & excluded from tip pool, or, you are working for a very greedy employer. Get your experience & get out. Make sure to not burn bridges- that can haunt you. Don't complain at work. Vent with your non-coworkers. Ten an hour is minimum wage. I bet they charge their clients a service charge. It is probably given to the catering sales staff. The catering sales staff, catering director, and banquet manager should get a...

I work as a banquet server. And worked a event for appropriately 40 people. Today I was informed the client left a cash tip. So, I call my supervisor who informed me that it was ONLY for other two servers that I worked with. Fair?
I've worked in at a restuarant for almost two years and have a lot of related customer service positions that would help make my experience look more rounded? Receptionist, account executive (a.k.a sales person, btw is horrible pay XP) But my main worry is my hair color. It's not an extreme wild color, I'm an asian woman and bleached my hair a white blonde. Link of a picture of me with my hair and hair style.postimg.org/image/q7zkadunr/My hair is cut short on the left side and gradually gets lon...

Hi....I just got a job as a banquet server. The only experience I have is serving during my college break for a week at a country club. My new manager says I will have to serve with the tray up I guess on my shoulder. Does anyone have any advice of how to do this best. Im afraid something will fall. Does one person carry the tray on their shoulder and another serve the plates or do you put the tray down on a stand and then serve. Also what shoulder do you carry the tray on (Is it right since you...
