Can anyone comment on the Biomedical Tecnichian field? Is it growing, in demand? I am 59 and looking to change careers. I have always enjoyed electronics (Ham Radio). I have a Bachelors degree. Not looking for more degrees, just the certificate and job knowledge. Any ideas appreciated.

Hello,This is for those in the field in Michigan, as I am not looking to move and really need to see how the job market is for this in the Metro Detroit area. I know we have one school that offers a 2-year degree for this. I've been wanting to make a career change into healthcare and reading how most other fields (other than nursing) are saturated - more supply than demand right now. So please let me know if you are currently employed as a biomedical equip. tech in MI, where you trained, sala...
How did you get your start doing biomedical technician work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position?Do you need a particular educational background?
Hello I'm 25 years old and I've been working at a local DME in my town for almost four years as a medical repair technician. My job has had me certified in a few different things but I'm actually wanting to further my education and get certified as a biomedical technician. Where I'm at in Texas there's not any school for BMET but I've found a place that would let me obtain a diploma and a certification online, when I passed the test. My question is do you think I should go for it to further my c...
Never give your services away. Health care is one industry which stays above the economic curve ... people will always get sick. My best advice is to be working on your AAMI certification (visit www.aami.org). This is the most widely recognized document in the US and Canada. Also, don’t volunteer your time. Ask for part time work with minimum pay. You may need to re-locate. Olympia is small, Seattle is better. Don't count out Vancouver BC. That city is booming! Even though you are just starting...
Hello everyone, I'm considering going through an a.s. BMET program, and I have a couple of questions. I've been researching the field for a little while now, and I'm very interested, but I want to make sure an associates degree is sufficient as far as job opportunities go. I've heard a b.s. is overkill, and I've also heard its necessary to get anywhere in the field (Not sure how credible those sources were though). I was hoping for some input from those in the field, or know people in the field....

Long story short - Im currently employed as a BMET in a dialysis clinic (since Jan 2017) but have the opportunity to have an internship through my school in a hospital setting this summer. My long term goal is to work in a hospital biomed department and work towards my CBET. Would it look better on my resume to leave dialysis and take the internship? Or stay in dialysis through summer to build upon that experience? I'd love to hear from anyone whos done hiring for BMET positions. Thanks in a...

I'm right there with ya. I've been out of the field for 4 years for "personal difficulties" as well, and want to get back in it. I've been eliminated from the running for one job for sure because I've been out of the work force for 4 years. It's very discouraging. I'm now willing to relocate. How's your search going?karen

Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field? What skills should you learn to increase your salary?
I just graduaed in April 2011 with an Associate of Applied Science in Nashville, TN. This program was in its first years at my school and they are currently not affiliated with any hospitals for internships in the area. Are there any hospitals or biomedical company's in middle TN looking for an intern? I have been finding it difficult to find a job without an internship or 6 months to 1 year experience in the field. I graduated with a 3.85 GPA. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello,I am very excited by the prospect of becoming a BMET. I love to fix things, mainly computers. I also like healthcare having worked as a CNA for a while. I have some questions though before I let my excitement become a career path. I would much appreciate some answers 🙂First, I take medicine. It makes me sleepy for about 8 hours out of the day. During this time I just sleep so it doesn't affect my day to day life. However I read in one of the other forum posts that there is alot of on call...
My husband has recently applied to a BMET position with Mayo Clinic in MN. I am curious as to the volume of applicants for BMET jobs there and any experience or information you may have. He has all requirements (or more) than what this specific position is asking for. He applied 1 week ago and we have not heard anything yet. I know they are a huge organization but I am so impatient!!! Thanks!
I have nearly 3 years of overseas experience in Biomedical engineering field, working in hospitals in london and India. As I have recently moved to NJ, I cannot find any entry level biomedical jobs for my experience. So I am looking for internships/volunteer work. Any idea on how can I proceed.? I have called up few companies/hospitals still all in vain.! Thanks in advance.!

I currently work in the medical field and I would love if someone could give me pointers on how to get some experience. All the jobs want experience but I only have my internship that I completed. If anyone has suggestions that would be more than welcomed. Thanks Krystal
