I graduated in June 2011 with a bachelor in electronics engineering technology. I have no prior experience and I'm currently looking for a job. So far I have tried looking for job as Electronics Technician. What other jobs could I apply for? Also, which companies should I try? I have tried: cellular carriers(AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile), Intel, FAA, Microsoft, Google, AMD, Nokia and many others. I have experience working with Digital Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Digital Probes, Spectrum Analyzers, Po...
Greetings,I spent 8 years in the US Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician. I was honorably discharged in 2007 and I have been trying to find a decent paying job but since my separation I have gotten nowhere. Due to this I have been forced to take minimum wage jobs to keep my (and my wife's) head (barely) above water. As it stands now its been about 4 years since I have used my skills and I fear that I am no longer marketable because of how long its been since I have used my training. I am a...
I'm about to graduate from a tech school and already have been turned down for employment because of my background. I committed my crime over 12 years ago and did my time. I'm trying to start a new life on the right track and take care of my 3 kids and wife. Are there companies out there that hire ex cons in the electronic work field. The ony difference between me and alot of people is that i got caught.
So I am thinking about joining IMTI which is a school in NYC and Connecticut that offers programs such as electrical technician, electronics system technician,HVAC and plumbing. So the electrical technician system course cost $14,586 for 15 months according to the website. Is it a good idea to get into that field right now and get in debt?
I'm currently in the Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician and will be looking for a job when I retire in about 12 months. I have no idea what the market is for us on the outside. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Seeking to relocate up north, maybe Chicago , Philadelphia etc. Not too keen on west coast ! I'm very experienced in video game, amusement machine repair and would appreciate any contacts or suggestions. Thanks.
I recently graduated top of my class with an associates degree in electronics yet still can't find employment in my field. Every place that I have applied to tells me that I lack the work experience. But isn't going to school and doing the labs and the projects considered as experience? Did we all just sit down in class and read from a book and then just take a test and that was it? I didn't think so. I think its a shame how the job structur has changed. I mean one minute they used to tell us yo...

Does anyone know what to expect on a pre-employment skills test for an avionics position? I've heard from several companies that they give a practical test the first day of work. I was an AET in the service for 6+ years and want to make sure I'm prepared and don't end up looking like a fool. Thank you!!!
I got a job right out of electronics school with Lucent Technologies which later became Alcatel Lucent. I worked there 10 years as an "radio frequency tester" until they closed the plant and outsourced the work to China and Mexico. When I knew they were closing the plant I immediately began a job search and got hired at a local power plant as a control technician before Alcatel Lucent closed their facility. I am thankful that I went to school, it's worked out well for me. I have made a comfo...

Is there a secret to the search that I am missing? I've put my resume out on every job boa...
I finished Technical School in April. My certification are in Fiber Optics(FOA), Electronics Systems Associate Level-1(ISCET), and Electronics Systems Associate Level-4. Every job I look at is asking for 2 or more years experience. How can you gain experience when no one will hire you because you don't have enough in the first place? How do you find a job as an Electronics Technician or in a similar field with no experience?
I'm was previously in the Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician for 9.5 years. I have applied to job after job(as I have more experience then this as a test technician for MCVOD machines and Cell phone repair, as well as some mechanical assembly experience(8mths)but I barely get a nibble. The ONLY thing that I can think of is my credit which is horrible due to being unemployed from the navy for 1.5 years while the whole time I was looking for a job. I am not really sure where else to look o...

I am about half way through my "Electronics technician" course at a community college in NJ. I am just loving the course, its extremely interesting to me. I just have some questions for you. What are the job prospects for a Electronics technician in NJ? I see a TON of jobs on this very site so that is a bit encouraging. Also once I get my diploma, how do you turn what you learned into work, if that question makes sense? Also I'm contemplating after this going for my A.S. degree for Electronics a...
I am quickly approaching a 20 year retirement from the Navy (18 more months). How successful were any of you, that were in a similar situation, in getting a job in the Norfolk, VA area? Did rank hurt your chances with some companies (E6 or E7)? How big a part does a security clearance play into it?

What cities in USA do you recommend to find a job as "Electronics Technology Associate Degree Photonics & laser " ?
An auto dealership and service department needs to hire a few auto mechanics for their service bays. Instead of hiring skilled Auto mechanics, they only hire people with a bachelor degree in automotive engineering and for the oil change person, a bachelor degree in chemistry. I would say this would be incredibly stupid; not only wasting a degreed professional’s talent but when the economy is better, that person will bolt for a professional position. The thing is this is what I am seeing the elec...
