If someone has a recent felony for failure to pay child support, is it not a possibility to get a job as an HVAC Tech? Most big companies posting ads for jobs state they do background checks? He's been to school & had training & was top in his class. He needs a job to pay child support so not sure what to tell him. Can someone please advise?
In response to bb in spring tx... i am a convicted felon and am presently a field superintendant for a company here in texas.I do work in customers homes and am registered with the state as an hvac tech. It is a case by case basis that takes into account the severity of the offense, how much time has lapsed since the crime and whether you are currently on parole or probation. He has an uphill battle and there will be ALOT of people out there that won't give him the time of day. But as BB says it...

I'm looking to change careers and enter HVAC industry. I'm currently in school to get certification but I would like to work in the field while attending school to gain field experience. How can I get a company to hire me into an entry level position without having any experience and without completing my certification yet?
I am trying to get my company to pay for me to get my HVAC Certification. I think it would benefit the 20 hotels maintenance programs i currently manage. I have a basic/limited HVAC knowledge. Based on what I have taught myself and youtube etc. Also i have read several HVAC Books to better understand when things stop working. I kind of want to make sure when I present this to them I have all my ducks in a row and want to see what you experts here have to say. I figure getting licensed and being ...

Could I get the online certificate then get a job and learn hands on there or doesn't that happen?Should I go to a local career center? Though if I do tha...

Quick question. Are cornrows considered neat and professional as a HVAC Technician?
Anyone recommend a good company in Las Vegas, Nevada or close to that area for employment. Looking for a company that wont have any layoffs I'm aware of slow seasons but not working and being laid off is two different things. So I wouldn't mind a company that gives days off instead of layoffs, Thanks for all recommendations.
I have browsed the State Requirements for California to be a HVACR Tech, I wondered if anyone could give some beneficial advice getting experience and the profession. Many thanks
i have worked in this field since i was 16. i started in attics and under houses. i went to school, got out and made crap wages for several years. persistance seems to have paid off. i now own my own business, but i have a hard time finding qualified techs or even techs fresh out of school. in texas the wages aren't super high but it is easy for a tech to make $50k and the cost of living is less than in most places. anybody willing to move to texas and work your butt off can make $$$$ in m...

My son's only 18 months, I'm not willing to work full time until he's going into kindergarten, and I'm definitely not missing any important holidays with him. I've been talking to fortis college in Ohio, and their program is phenomenal. I'm just scared this isn't right for me. I like the pay, I like the fact school...

Has anyone out there attended ATI for their HVAC program? I am a laid off rail roader and I am considering entering this field as a new career. I have been researching schools in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area and I have narrowed it down to Tarrant County Community College and ATI in North Richland Hills. It costs $18,000 to go to ATI. The lead instructor told me that I could pay that back with 42 hours of work after I got finished with the program and got certified. Is this true? Tarrant County is...
