Hi! I did my counseling MA in Colorado and have recently moved to Arkansas. I see in applying for licensure that I'm required to take a couple of extra courses that were not required in my program. I am unclear if I can simply take these courses for CEU credit, as through the Zur Institute for example, or if I need to find an online course (I live in a rural area without access to a university) for the missing classes. Any help would be appreciated.

My husband and I are looking to move back home to be closer to family. I have sent in my application for endorsement and I'm just waiting to hear back. I meet all the requirements so I'm not worried. My question is, should I start applying for jobs before I'm endorsed in the other state or should I wait until I get the okay. I don't want to miss out on possible jobs.
I am looking to work on LPC (and eventually MFT) hours, preferably in/near Lubbock, TX. I need to pay bills at the same time, so I'd like to find a paid counseling job. I am also trained in Spiritual Care/Social Services.Any ideas? Thanks so much!Emily
cont'dcont'd Issue #5- Although the pay incentive is only a marginal amount, these agencies promote and support the reciept of SSI for kids with ADHD. Issue #6- These agencies are a step down from Social Services and CPS and a step up from outpatient care. The major issues are not looked at, such as un/undereducated, un/underemployment, social/environmental factors (living in violent neighborrhoods), and other social issues that contribut to these people's issues. Instead these agencies offer a ...
Hi,I'm from Massachusetts. Normally when I think of some of the greatest higher education institutions, I think of Boston. Unfortunately, there's only 3 institutions that offer a Masters in MHC that are approved by CACREP. So, my question to those who have much more insight in the field, how important is that specific accreditation and will it later effect my chances of finding a job in the future if I choose a non-accredited program?
How many hours do they work a week? Do they work weekends? Is it different for if they work in a clinic or wok in a hospital? Do they get paid vacation time? How much? Thank you.

I'm thinking about the Mental Health Counseling profession. I've got a BA in English but I'm not interested in traditional English professions like writing, editing, and being a literary critic. Teaching, I'm not sure about either. However, the thing I'm most worried about in being a MHC is not being able to express myself and express my own personal creativity. I understand that the profession involves mostly listening and the focus being on the person needing help, but is there a certain about...

I very recently landed a f-t job after working several months at a private practice that had no benefits and office space available to me only two days/wk. When I told the owner of the private practice about my new job, I offered to continue seeing clients there as well--as the f-t position is having me work four, 10-hr days. She got very angry and told me, among other things, that she wants me out of her practice completely within two days and that my current clients won't be given the option ...
