Hi, I am a BSN graduated from well thought of school in my area in 2010, GPA 3.5. My fatal mistake was that I did not get a job as a CNA during school and now I cannot get hired by anyone. Apparently, hospitals want some pt care experience plus your license and will not give those who do not have BOTH any kind of a chance at all. I am now working P/T as a med transcriber in a small hospital which is an 80 mile round trip drive from my home. I did med transcription for years and this is what I ha...

Whether ther is a shortage or not, nursing is always evolving. What are your goals in nursing? I guess once you define them you can focus on that aspect of nursing. Are good at sales? Good talker? Nice presentation and speech? Waht other skills do you have to enhance your BSN? I am sure a one to one with a motivator can do you a lot of good.Manny in california.
Hi, I was an RN in PR, and have been out of the field for 8 yrs now. I have been trying to get back in and looking for a refresher course in NJ that was affordable, but they are outrageously expensive. Charging $600-1200 a module and there are 4. That is literally a rent. Ive been having alot of trouble with this, especially being unemployed at the moment. I wondered if anyone had any suggestions or any options that could help? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I worked as an LPN for 20 years and just graduated from an RN ADN program. I am now licensed as of August (1 month) and I still can't find a job. I've come close a few times but either the found someone more qualified or stopped hiring. I have applied everywhere, even cities a few hours away. I thought we had a great economy. What's going on?
Have you read the posts on the New Graduate Nurse thread ? You are not alone.
Have been in the nursing profession for 34 yrs and totally burned out... Was a Case Manager for insurance companies. Made a career change and loving it.Anyone out there who feeels the same way???
When I graduated about 8 years ago, I tried to get a job in the nursing field but I could not get anything. I decided to go ahead and have my son. I later got a job in a mental health facility but at that time I had a health issue so I had to resign. I was able to get another job about 4 months later and it was in a LTC facility. It was a brutal and hard job. I worked the evening shift and weekends so of course everyone working there would call off or come in late. I ended up caring for 30 patie...
I'm a high-school student thinking about going into nursing in college - I'm curious to know what nurses out there can tell me about the perks and downsides, or generally what I can expect in becoming a nurse. Any advice would be really helpful!
I was wondering, since I was a nurse, how do nurses generally go about finding the best program to attend?
Please give me the jobs that I have applied for and the reason for not being hired.
I'm curious as the salary of LPNs working in doctor's offices? Please also list your state or geographic area! Thanks!! 🙂

Hello All,I live in the state of NJ (Middlesexx County) and have not found any of my council members at my school to be of any help. I graduate this year and i'm looking for the path to figure the medical courses I need to make my dream come true. I would like to become a medical spa owner. Amongst providing services where clients can have waxing, facials, lymphatic massage, brow extension and mani/pedi services. I also would like to offer the service of botox and juvederm. So with that, I was a...
I want to be an online adjunct faculty. I enjoy my full time job with patient care. I want to teach nursing online. I have a Master's in Public administration and a DNP. I have a BSN. But most schools want a MSN. You would think the doctorate because it is a doctorate will be good enough. I read a lot of lamentations about nursing faculty shortage and nursing shortage. But how are we as a profession addressing this when we are creating barriers for other colleagues?
Is the Associates in Nursing curriculum easy compared to the pre med prerequsites or same difficulty level
Please share your opinion and thoughts.
Has anyone heard of this school? Its in Alexandria, VA. Im thinking of going there for the LPN program. I want some feedback from the public since its a new school. Thanks.
Hi, have six year's of healthcare experience under my belt. I currently have a bachelor's degree and work as a counselor at the moment. I am working on my prerequisites for nursing.I have a few multiple directions to go. Doing the Accelerated BSN is out too competitive, too costly, and I can't quit work to focus on school that's not in the card's right now. Especially with me getting married in a year and possibly a child in 2/3 year's with about 8 prerequisites to complete just not doable.Consi...
I was hired at my mother's work through connections as a RN. It is a subacute/rehab facility. During the "interview", I was not asked any nursing interview questions but was told about what the DON was looking for, how she feels about hiring new grads, how new grads leave after a few months costing her time & investment, the recent creation of a nursing contract this January, her anecdote of how much she paid to breech her contract, and to sign the contract and the rest of the papers. It is 1 pa...
I am a 28 year old with a BA from Ohio State. I, like many other college grads, was not able to get a job with my major. I know that I want to work in healthcare. I only wish I'd realized this sooner! I am having a very hard time deciding between occupational therapy and nursing though.Things about OT that I like:-A more comfortable work environment. -One-on-one with patients.-No holidays or weekends, most likely.-I could be creative with treatment.-I love the idea of treating holistically.Thing...
Working in the ICU can be pretty stressful! After a long 12 hours shift I often reflect on the day that has passed and wonder in amazement how I survived. In fact, sometimes I wonder how my patients survived. Not because i'm incompetent, but because I always feel there is more to know. Ventilators are one area a lot of nurses still feel uncomfortable. If you feel this way too, check out Ventilator Modes Made Easy. It's available for pre-order on Amazon for just 2.99 until Dec. 6th at the followi...
What do you enjoy most about nurse work? What do you dislike the most? Is it challenging? Are there many opportunities to learn and advance? What keeps you at your job?
I've been reading alot of everyones situations, and let me add that the PA state board could care less if you are successful at this program. I have a significant health history. I had gastric bypass which went really bad. I have been in the hospital too many times to discuss, and got addicted to Percocet and Xanax. I blame the doctors since they didn't know what to do, and after about 25 surgeries, my life has been screwed up. Currently I have a horrible ulcer. I am home on TPN, and take Tyleno...
I know nurses make good money and im a caring person so I would like to help people but is the job very stressful? Im a sensitive person so I am not sure if nursing would be right for me.
