I am so with you. I have had too many jobs also and dont know what to do. I am so lost. I cant go back and change things. I have worked in difficult environments with difficult people and did not stay. I have attempted to write a functional resume to highlight just my skills and diversity but now I am at the part where I have to do employment highhlights and history and am lost. I cannot list experience from jobs that I cant remember the specific duties in and the ones I do not want to mention s...
I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you are really wasting your time, so I will attempt to help you... First of all, you will NEVER get a receptionist job if you do not even have the savvy to understand that typing in all caps is like shouting. A receptionist job these days is virtually the same as a secretary and nobody is going to hire you when you have no conception of how to even write a document without shouting. They will naturally assume you might shout on the phone or say somethin...
I’ve been really searching high and low everywhere for a receptionist job, especially one in a veterinarian office, however every job posting I’ve seen lists that they require at least one year of experience. I would even start out on the bottom, doing dirty work and cleaning kennels just to show how much I want the job. How does one even gain experience, if they all require experience? I’ve even applied to a few even though they listed they wanted experience, but I feel as though they think I c...
WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR A RETIRED PERSON TO FIND PART-TIME WORK EVEB AT MINIMAL WAGES. YOU GET ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE OR RESPECT FOR YOU AGE EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE TRYING TO HELP YOURSELF TO SUPPLEMENT YOUR S.S AND NOT BE RELIABLE FOR YOUR OWN CARE ON OTHER PEOPLE. YES, I CAN'T LIFT HEAVY OBJECTS, BUT THAT DOESN'T EFFECT MY BRAIN OR THE DESIRE TO BE A RELIABLE TRUSTWORTHY PERSON. YET I SEE PEOPLE (TEENAGERS) HIRED BEFOR AND AFTER MY APPLICATIONS AND THE NEXT TIME I GO TO THAT SAME BUSINESS, THER WILL...
I am interested in applying for a position with your agency. The title that i am applying for is a Receptionist / File Clerk. I am interested in expanding my professional career by seeking new chanllenges in the area of Administrative Assistant. Because of my strong desire to help other i feel that the position open with your organization would be a perfect fit.
I’ve been reading a lot on this forum about how it is usually a bad sign when employers tell you that they are still interviewing other candidates. I was told this yesterday during my interview so now I’m having doubts even though the interview went well and I am well over qualified for this position. The interviewer brought in the owner of the company which I was not expecting. She said “let me just go see if he’s available to pop his head in and say hi so you won’t have to come back". He then ...
I been looking for a job, and most of the companies do back ground checks. My record goes way back. They make it hard for us to get a head when they will not give us a second chance. I am a harder worker just need a chance. I don't have a driver license due to unpaid tickets that r way to high for me to pay right now on top of my bills in general I just need a chance at a normal job. I have a interview at 711 n I already know they do back ground check ,I don't want to put my self through that hu...
it seems like im never good enough even though I have many years of exp. and skills. Im looking for a full or part time office job in sulphur or lake Charles la. these are so competitive they are so hard to get and even find openings.
I feel you there. Hang in there I am right in the same boat. All we can do is to keep applying for this positions; eventually someone will give us the opportunity to start from 0. 🙂 Hang in there.
Do you have any tips to help prepare for an upcoming receptionist interview? Are there common interview questions that come up again and again?
Thank you for your response. At least i'm not alone. thank you for responding. my prayers are with you also.
First, you are typing in all caps. That, in electronic communication terms, is yelling. It also shows you don't know proper etiquette when communicating on line or in electronic communications. Are you submitting your resume in all caps? Is your resume IN all caps? This may sound silly, but there is truth to it. If you don't know how to present yourself professionally, companies may not want to hire you to represent them at the front desk. Not trying to pick on you, but definitely somethi...
I am just tired that we are wasting our lives going on interviews but to no avail. I am so disgusted that I just will not go anymore on interviews until somoene will assure me that I will have a job. If I was working before for so many years that means that I knew how to do my job. Not only in one language but three. They only thing is that these Agencies and Employers only want to pay nothing and give more responsibilities. What do you do think we are animals?
With robotics and mobile devices increasingly supporting our everyday life, what will happen to the reception desk we know from hotels and companies? Will there be someone greeting us? Is it going to be a person or a screen? Or might a robot guide us to our (meeting) room?

I have been out of work for 3 months, I am a medical assistant and receptionist with over 2 years of experience. I got an email from a. Lady that saw my resume on indeed.com and she asked for an interview, that was maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago. I did good on the interview, the office manager asked me if I could fill out an application, give her 3 references and she then took me to the hr department, I was told I would need a physical and my recent shot recents. I got them done a wk after the interv...

1. Location, location, location. I live in Franklin, KY. Work in Bowling Green, KY where most of the jobs in this field if any are. Jobs are few & far between in this area. I have an Indeed.com alert for jobs in the large California city where I grew up just for giggles & grins & I receive at least 20 per day. However you would think that there would be more work in Bowling Green--it is the third largest city in KY. Just not diverse enough. Too much factory & service sector--fast food, restauran...
