I am going to be taken the certification test soon, I dont know what book to get to study from, and I was wondering what kind of questions are on there. I know that there are many books out there, but I was wondering if the book even helps.
Add a Label: Type a Job, Company, Location and/or Other in the boxes below (i.e. chef, Hilton Hotel, and Orlando, FL) and click "Search". You may only add one job, company, and location label per search, but multiple "other" labels.
Delete a Label: You can remove "Other" labels one at a time by clicking the "x" next to the name. Or, remove all the filters at once by clicking "Clear all labels".
Your school is not the only one with these unethical practices. You can go to www.arc-st.org and file a grievance procedure against the alleged school. I know here in Florida there are problems with "accredited" schools as well.
There are going to send you to a different clinical site then right. Other wise provided they asked you upfront (you answered on paper somewhere, application etc.) you I believe have a lawsuit. They have an obligation to let you know you wont be able to complete the program upfront. You shouldn't have much trouble getting a job as long as the offensive is not drug or violence related.
help me please....I graduated from Surg Tech school in June 2006. It has been a year now and I still can not find a job as a Surgical Technologist...I do not know what I am doing wrong...I am in the Charlotte NC area and I have had at 4 or 5 interviews. I am consistently appyling for new Surg Tech openings everyday. I got a call Friday for another interview. I seriously need to score this interview and I get so nervous at interviews. What are some typical Surg Tech Interview questions...I r...
Techs DO work there. they have a different title than we do. And they have different jobs. I think ODRP or ODTP look it up. There was a huge thing that happened in parliment about licensure a few years ago. Good luck!
I was a sterile Processing Technician and have every intent on going back to it. The pay isnt that bad depending on where you work as with all other jobs and everyone's experience is different. I enjoyed it and learned a lot. I am going to school for my surgical tech associates degree too. The good thing about doing sterile tech work first is that you get to know the instruments so when you become a surg. tech you wont have to worry about learning the them and your procedures too. I hear so...
I'm a 37 year old Woman, looking to go back to school to pursue a career as a surgical tech. I am very conflicted about choosing this career due to the fact I have heard so many negative aspects about the job. Can anyone tell me something positive? Can anyone give good solid information regarding schooling, pay and getting hired right out o school? Much appreciated, thank you.
Does anyone have any information on refresher courses to help someone prepare for the certifying exam for Surgical Technologist? When I graduated from school in 2002 certification wasn't required in my state. It has since become a requirement and I have always felt like i have kinda sold myself short by not getting it.I now have been out of school quite a while and feel a refresher course would benefit me greatly. I am having a terrible time finding something of this nature. Back when I was a m...
Is there anyone out there that has a Bachelor's degree but decided on a new career as Surgical Tech? I graduated about 8 yrs ago with a B.A. degree but thinking of changing career path w/o going to school for another 4 yrs. I am 31.
I am trying to decide which one to go for and need a little help. Both appeal to me and both are assistants, I have did tons of research on both but I would like to hear from people in one or both or know someone in one of these professions. I want to make a good living and support myself financially. If it helps the two schools on my radar are St. Kate's they offer a hybrid program for those in California and Advanced College for the surgical technologist program which would also be a hybrid pr...
I am looking into surgical tech schools, and found a one year program for 22,000 dollars. It is an accredited school, however arn't there hospital based learning programs? How does one find out about those? I am in Houston TX. Please help~!!!
I am currently in mod 2 of my program and I recently caught a marijuana related felony will this hurt my chances of becoming a tech?
I am currently enrolled in the ST program at Concorde. I have lots of info hit me up sometime. ***********
I am thinking of going to school for a surgical tech but I have heard that there are some real issues with the staff not treating the Surgical Techs very well. Is this just during the clinical stage? Or maybe just in a hospital setting. Also how difficult is it to get into a non hospital position?
anyone took CST exam 2019,taking mine in less than a week?Tips ??Thnaks
I was just wondering what the work day is like as a ST? I'm considering getting in to this field. My only concern is that I am a bodybuilder and I require at least one large meal in a 8 hour shift and a fair amount of pee breaks. Do STs get a solid lunch break? What happens if you need to pee during a surgery? Thanks in advance!
IS IT BETTER TO OBTAIN AN ASSOCIATES DEGREE AS A SURGICAL TECH RATHER THAN A DIPLOMA OR DOES IT NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Hello everyone, I am a 22 year old male about to go back to school to be a surgical tech. I am going for the associates degree, but I notice that there are a lot of programs that offer it as just a diploma. I was wondering should I save time and go for the diploma, or should I go to college and get the associates degree. What would be the difference????
I recently graduated from a Surgical Technology program and now I am working at the same hospital where I did my clinical rotations. I spent 1 week in sterile processing as part of my orientation. I fell in love with the job and I am now starting to think that I picked the wrong career. I would like to work as a sterile processing technician, but money is tight and I need to make sure that the pay is worth it. Can you make the same amount of money working in sterile processing as a certified sur...
What is the best training for becoming a surgical technician? What types of ongoing training or certifications are necessary to be an effective surgical technician? What do non-traditional career paths look like?
Becca H. I wish I could tell you that it gets easier, but it depends on you. I have on some days left the O.R. feeling like I knew nothing I learned. I just had to get over what I have done wrong on that day and concentrate on that days task. It took me a month to feel good about every thing but not every one in the O.R. welcome me with open arms either. If you can ask the charge Nurse what cases are going on next week and read of the weekend on those cases in your book.....I don't know if yo...
I am considering change of career to Surgical Tech. I am interested in Concorde Career College, have recently completed initial visit, I have medical administrative background. I have read the pros and cons to Surg Tech and still want to pursue course. Does anyone have any info on the school besides online info and admissions. I'm 38 and thought maybe I was too old to change to such a strenous career choice but I feel I'm prepared. Any advice for me Thanks
Is anyone available to anser a few questions for me? I am pursueing a career as a surgical tech and have been given an assignment to speak with one.
it really depends if the hospital were you are doing your extern at is looking for new techs because they plan on getting rid of a few they have now. also depends how big your class is too. i know (well at my school) the smaller class's like with 10 or less all got hired at hospitals. so it really all depends, if i were you i would ask students who attend the school your thinking about and ask them how things are going and find out if past class's have been able to find work.
I just wanted to see if anyone has taken the Surgical Technology exam for 2019 and if so, what did you use to prepare for it?
