Are there any graduates from the PMI Diagnostic Medical Sonography program that can provide information regarding their experience? Wanted to see how you felt the program was and if you've had any issues upon graduating. I spoke to a counselor for the program and said that they were not yet CAAHEP accredited but were in the process of obtaining their accredidation.

Can anyone recommend what books/cd's to study for the new spi exam? Please reply to this post what was most helpful for you or email me at ***********, thanks!
I am a newly employed tech and absolutely hate it. The responsibility is overwhelming for me and I have so much anxiety every time I have to go into work. I am only per diem and even the low amount of hours I get has peoved to be too much. Does anyone know of a related career that maybe is a little more predictable and structured?
it really depends on your experience and qualifications. a new hire w/o a registry might make $19-25 an hour. Someone w/ my experience w/ 5 + yrs exp and multiple registries makes in the mid 30's. It just depends, you have to set yourself apart from everyone else.
Hello, I am an international medical graduate who currently live in Calgary, Alberta. I have a master degree in Audiology from my home country and was working toward PhD before immigrating to Canada. I am very interested in becoming a sonographer. I have applied to Sait, got an interview, but unfortunately declined. I have answered all the questions in the interview and I don't really know what are they looking for in a prospective student or what am i lacking to work on? Any advice or similar ...
I’ve passed the SPI already. I’m about to finish my program and go into extern and wanted to know what any of you out there, who have passed ARDMS, used to prepare for the exams. I plan on taking the abdomen exam half way into my externship time.
Need some feedback!! I found an online CAAHEP accredited program & need a little help deciding on a concentration. Is one in higher demand than the others? Does one pay more or less than the others? As far as I'm concerned, no particular modality strikes me...ultrasound in general is fascinating. So it really comes down to salary & demand.
You went to the Florida Institute of Ultrasound ....didn't you? I graduated from their program in 1995. I don't know how the school is now but we had a pretty good program back in the old days and some good instructors. I was lucky because my wife at the time was already working in the field and we had several hospitals in our area about 2 hours from Pensacola where we could work that had more ultrasounds than we could do. I arranged all of my scan time (except for scan lab night) at the ho...
I am going to graduate this spring from Mountain State University. I have definitely noticed the decline in job opportunities sin first enrolling in school back in 2008. I have been thinking of joining an ultrasound franchise of some sort but not sure if I want to go the mobile diagnostic route or the non diagnostic 3D/4D OB route. If I did have my own company I would definitely make sure anyone working with me would be RDMS but I just don't know if this is something worthwhile or not. Any thoug...
I have a lot of ob gyn experience (and 3d/4d) and am looking into starting my own 3d 4d buisness. I have completed a lot of research from what name and prices of everything (machine, marketing, website, logo, ect..). Did anyone else get a lawyer or accountant? If so why or why not? How do you guys feel about the Voluson i portable machine? Would a portable machine be a safer way to go, considering I can take it with me anywhere (baby showers, drs offices). How has buisness been going?Thank you f...

I just want to learn more about the Ultrasound profession. I've been looking into this career for some time now, and I just can't make up my mind. So if any of you can help, I have some questions. Is the termonology for this hard? How in depth do you get into the anatamy? And after looking over those machines they use, they look extremely complex. What is your take on this? Thank you to all that can help!!
what did you study to pass the rvt? Please email me back at ***********
Hey Sheena, don't you feel like everyone in America deals with this?? I refuse to "settle" in a job that pays the bills!Yes, please...anyone tell us your thoughts!!
I live in San Antonio, Texas. From the info on the CAAHEP site, there IS NO accredited DMS program in my area. Unreal! The closest school that is CAAHEP accredited is Austin Comm. College, which would be at least 2 hours for me from where I live in SA and they have more pre-reqs, require you to take CNA classes first, etc. I have 3 kids and I'm 36 years old. This really isn't reasonable. If I had no kids I'd move to Austin for a while but that's not the case....So, the school here I was consi...
i pass my physics exam the frist time ,i fail my abd exam last month and i am very depressed any body have any suggestion?i did study esp very well but there were questions on the test that was not in esp please those of you that pass the abd what did you study ? thanks.
I am in my 4th month of an ultrasound program, and after going over the ARDMS website, I am suddenly petrified that a couple of incidents from a long time ago could prevent me from ARDMS eligibility. In 1989 (it will be 20 years old by the time I graduate) I got a DUI, and in 1992 I was convicted of a hit and run. Both of these were misdemeanors, and I have had no arrests or problems with the law since. After the 1992 incident, I got my act together, went back to school, received a Bachelors Degr...
was wondering if anyone can give me advice on additional training in ultrasound. My clinical experiences were not that great and I interviewed for job and was told I need more practice. I approached my school and they cannot help me. I asked to be placed in another clinical and they told me "no." I was told to call up hospitals and ask if I could volunteer, but I'm sure they will not let me touch patients because of malpractice issues, as I've been told.. I cannot seem to find a job in ultrasoun...
Anyone attend the CBD ultrasound program in LA? It's accrediated by CAAHEP but is private. Is it worth the money? Easy to acquire a job after ARDMS, etc? Do hospitals take this school seriously? Thanks in advance for any info!
Does any one here know anything about the Sonography program that Loma Linda University offers? How difficult is it to get into and if there is a waiting list? I am considering applying and was hoping for any input. Thanks in advance, Heather
Look on the ARDMS website and see what are the requirements to sit for the registry. www.ardms.org. That might help you decide too.
I also am in the same boat. I don't know if I should go into radiology technologist or medical diagnostic sonography? Are there many types of sonography specialties or can an AAS in medical diagnostic sonography cover the best options?if I go for rad tech can it be better to do first and then later sonography?
Hello there! This is a pretty specific question. I am at a crossroads in my professional life and am looking to possibly move into the medical field, particularly a career in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, in Houston, TX. I know that it is important to graduate from an ACCREDITED sonography school/program. There are several in the Houston area (Sanford Brown, HCC, Harris Health System...), but I was wondering if there are any Houston sonographers out there who might have a bit more insight: is...
I am looking to buy a recent esp (edeleman) breast review book.
