This may be a stupid question, but I know a guy who got paid $250,000 for 6 months of welding work in Germany. He got the job from a guy who was getting paid $3 million for 6 years of work in Africa. I'm just wondering - is this typical of overseas welding jobs? If anyone knows of someone who has done this sort of gig, how did they get it and what skills were needed?

I have my CWB in FCAW all position and my SMAW flat/horizontal and CSTS certificate, but that doesnt seem to be enough. Every Camp job I try and apply f...
I went to Lincoln Electric Welding School 2 years ago and took the SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW courses then I worked the last 2 years at strip mines in West Virginia working welding maintenance on mining equipment making $16.00/hour.I got laid off and now the only jobs I can find welding in the area are making $8.00-$12.00/hour. Shouldn’t someone that works in a the welding field make a bit more than someone running a cash register, or pushing shopping carts? It’s a bit depressing when you can go to w...

I am considering taking a High Pressure welding course so I can get a good job in Alberta, but THEN my friend advice me that the rent and expense are very high over there. Hence I have a question, does it worth the move? Cause I expect to make a lot of money working in Alberta. If the rent would already take out a big chunk of my income, then it won't worth all the trouble going there...Can anyone tell me the reality of working in Albreta?
