Do you work at DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview?

Any advice for someone trying to get in?

The Department of Agriculture is one of the worst agencies in the federal government.
They are given a budget of millions of dollars each year just to cover all of the employee lawsuits against them.

I've seen it all. You dont need any qualifications just as long as you are connected or related to someone there who will bring you in and take care of you.
For example, I have seen the wife of one of the bosses who had no credentials or education whatsoever beat out 2 PhD candidates for microbiologist job. She couldn't do the work so they hired highly skilled temps from several different agencies to do the entire project while she sat in her office surfing the web. After the project was over, they let all of the temps go and gave her a promotion, a thousand dollar bonus check and an outstanding performance appraisal for her involvement(?)in the project. One of the PhD candidates who was rejected for this this job sued but he was paid off to shut up.

As for the wife, she got bored with the lab(?) so they promoted to her as the center EEO officer with a huge pay increase.

Also, I shared an office with an employee for 4 years who never did any work whatsoever. He would leave all day and go to the malls or the movies with another employee, return at 4:45 pm and then take a nap and then go home. If he stayed in the office he would surf the net all day looking at porn and yelled at me because I interrupted his afternoon nap.
