I obtained an Associates and then a Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems. This was in 1998 and 2006, respectively. I also obtained Microsoft certs back in 1999/2000. Yes, obviously these are all outdated now. But I've never been able to get my foot in the door. The closest I got was as an IT buyer. See my work experience is many years in purchasing, but education in Computers. At this point, I'd like to try to get into IT again, maybe as a database admin because I love working with info, but how does one even get started in this field? You can get certified as MCDBA or in Oracle, but then what? How do you get that first break? Helpful advice would be greatly appreciated!
