I've been waiting for the board to decide my case. I have a theft misdemeanor from 12 years ago. No other convictions. I sent the LVN board my paperwork about the conviction in the beginning of Sept 2010. It's been over 8 weeks of waiting and I have not heard yet. I passed my board a few weeks later. Now I'm wondering how many of you have gotten your license from California LVN board with a misdemeanor and MOST importantly how long did you wait for the answer from the LVN board. I really want to know how long you have to wait because if it's months I will need to get a job while I'll wait. Thank you for your answers.

Jay, how long ago was your conviction? Try your best to get it expunged and obtain certified court documents. You probably won't have a problem getting into nursing school but getting your nursing licence will take some time.

I it took almost six months to the day before they approved my license. I had all traffic violation : driving on a suspended license, driving without proof of insurance x2.

I finally got my LVN License (in California) after a LONG wait...It took 9 months. I was not put on probation or restricted in anyway. I've been working as an LVN now for 5 months. Good Luck to all of you who are in the same boat. It took me a long time to get through it but I made it.

I see that you were recently licensed and are now working. Do you know of any other places that are hiring new grads????

MC,

So what happened with the expungement and the job? did it come up?

Im interested in the LVN program, but now have a misdemeanor, im embarasses to say.

I way cut off on the highway, had to slam on my anti lock brakes to barely avoind crashing into the wall, the other driver got up next to me, up the road in traffic, and started laughing at me, i flicked a small gum ball at the drivers car with my thumb, police asked what happened, i told the truth, the other driver lied. Either way my telling the truth got my a misdemeanor for flicking the candy. A split second decision on my part, and being honest got me a misdemeanor, Ive been so dissappointed over it.

anyway, will flicking this piece of candy prevent me from becoming a LVN?

Thank you.

no jail time, no community service, just big fine and 1 yeAr informal probation... so embarassing.

What did you have to do for your probation? I have 2 DUI's, both misdemeanors, 1 before I got my LVN license and 1 after, 9 years apart. I just got put on probation and the requirements are damn near impossible, ESPECIALLY since I don't have a job.
Did they require you to do a 30 day outpatient rehab program? If so how much did it cost and how did you find it?

I have only 1 misdemeanor for theft(CA) that was from 2010. I filed for a petition for dismissal(expungement)of the misdemeanor, and will be appearing in court in a few weeks for that.

I'm applying for LVN Program that starts this July, but I'm super scared to get my licensure denied by the BON, after graduating the LVN Program.

Is my probability greater of it being delayed than being denied, if I show proof of compliance & expungement??

Would appreciate some feedback, Thanks!

So what happen on your case now? Did or get expunge becaus I have the same situation as you. How long did you wait before you file expungement. Did you go to the LVN program or did they deny you? I have a RN license and need to renew it but I don't know how or will my license be denied, revoke or suspended if I apply for renewal. I'm not convicted yet but I have a court date. I hired a lawyer and im praying for the best result. Any advise pls. Tnx

I passed my boards for LVN in august 2014. I had a misdemeanor for grand theft of childcare money 10 years ago. My record was expunged 2 years later. Ihad traffic citations for FTA and driving on suspended license, and speeding.I paid all my tickets. My license was initially denied . I was told I could appeal the decision, but if I did and won, I would have to pay fines and receive a penalty that would stay on my record a lifetime. Or I could wait a year and re apply and I should have no problems getting my license. I waited a year and just re applied for my license back in june 2015. Its been 4 months so I called them because the suspense is killing me to find out if they finally approved my license. The person I spoke with said she processed my application and I should be receiving some paper work this Monday. I called back to ask if the papers would tell me if I was approved or not. She stated yes the papers will definitely tell me if I was approved, and the papers will tell me what steps to do next... ugggg why couldn't she just tell me over the phone ..im sooo nervous and will be until I receive something in the mail from them. Does any body have advice for me or have similar situations

So I have a Petty theft misdemeanor charge in 2014 and was put on informal probation for 3 yrs. Then I got a DUI in 2015. I'm not sure if my probation just starts over because its a violation or what but I'm considering going to a community college to get my LVN, ADN (RN), and then ultimately a BSN. Before I commit to this plan I just want to know If I will be denied my license because of my charges and If it's a better idea to just wait a few years? And how many years should I wait? Has any body been in the same situation as me?

I am 20 yrs old. Last night i got arrested for Speeding Contest, AKA racing at an excess speed of 120mph on a 65 mph zone. I’m a good person just a bad decision never been in trouble before. I want to know if convicted of the misdemeanor if it would affect my nursing future which is what I’m going to school for right now. Also I’m in the Army Reserve and don’t know how that affects that at this point I’m just freaking out.

Did you have any problems with clinical sites accepting you? I’m in nursing school right now I’m a straight A student and clinical rotations start next week... I’ll be devastated if I get dropped because of it. It’s the exact same charge from 6 years ago and I’m currently in the processing of getting it expunged but that could take 6 months. :(

I recently graduated an Lvn program on November 2017. I took nclex feb 2018.
I had 1 conviction of Petit theft in 2014. And am still on probation until 2019. And then the month I graduated I had an arrest for felony domestic violence. But the district attorney did not press charges due to lack of evidence. (Cops have to arrest someone when being called in a domestic dispute so they chose me, even tho I’m the one that called) anyways, I submitted all the paperwork and I was approved for my license this month. So I only waited 2 months , from the time I took my test , to the time I got the approval letter and licensing information. My biggest advice is don’t let ANYONE else’s stories convince you that your not going to get your license. I HAD 2 recent things and I still got my license. Because I was honest and forthcoming and did not hide anything. Focus on your own situation and just be honest ,do what you have to do as far as paperwork goes. As long as you have the right documentation , you should be fine. Also , I think the biggest thing is not having REPEAT offenses. If I would have had 2 petit thefts , I probably would have been denied because it would’ve shown that I didn’t learn my lesson. Bottom line, everyone’s case really is different. So you can’t comapre yours to someone else’s.
