I was hired and told 13.00 per hour. The 18 percent gratuity is added to the bill but I don't receive it. Is this a normal practice?

I'm not sure what min. wage for servers is in North Carolina, but in Pennsylvania, it is like $2.85 or something. I work at a country club and when I work parties we get paid more but do not get the gratuity. $13.00/hr is very high for a serving position, but sometimes it works out better to take a job that pays less but you get the gratuity.

Ooooooh...I suppose it matters what your total sales are at the end of the night. Take your total sales X .15 That is the average tips you would make. Now, add that to whatever the minimum wage for servers is in your state. Average it all out, but I think you may be getting screwed. I usually make MINIMUM $15/hr and as much as 40.
