You do not need to take the Boards over. There are three requirements to reinstate a lapsed license: a completed application, fee of 228.50 and 24 contact hours of continuing education (earned within the past 24 months from the date you apply for reinstatement). The CE certificates should be faxed to Alabama Board of Nursing. |

You do not have to retake the board test. you only have to request for reinstatement of your lapsed license. |

I graduated from an LPN program in 2008. At the time I was living in Maryland. I took my boards in Baltimore, Md., but did not pass the first time. I then experienced a horrible turn of events in my life and I kind of put my nursing career on the back burner. I have since relocated to Birmingham, Alabama. It is now the end of 2015 and I am considering a nursing career again. I wasn't sure if an LPN refresher course would be sufficient enough of a review in order to take the boards again or should I enroll in another LPN program. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. |
