How To Source Candidates on Indeed

With Indeed Smart Sourcing, you can quickly find and contact job seekers open to new jobs and match your job post. This article shows you how to get started, search for candidates, set up alerts, manage candidate profiles, and message job seekers.

Getting started

  1. Get a Smart Sourcing subscription. You can start with a 14-day free trial.
  2. Sign in to your employer account.
  3. Click or tab Smart Sourcing on the top left of the page.

Find candidates

Get matched with candidates. 

  1. Go to the Matched candidates tab to see people who fit your job post.
  2. Click or tap Change to get matches for a different job.
If you're not finding qualified candidates, you can update your job post to get better results.

Automate your outreach.

  1. Go to your Smart Sourcing dashboard.
  2. Choose Select a job to add to Sourcing Assistant.
  3. You'll see the Welcome to Sourcing Assistant window.
  4. Follow the instructions to set up the assistant.

Search for candidates. 

  1. Open the Search for Candidates tab.
  2. Search by job title, location, or keywords like skills or company names.

Use advanced search. 

  1. Click or tap the three dots on the right to open Advanced search.
  2. Filter by more options like years of experience or education.

Review resumes. 

  1. After you search, you'll get a list of candidates.
  2. Select a candidate’s name to access their full resume.

Set up alerts. 

  1. Turn on Alerts for any saved search. 
    1. We'll email you when new job seekers match that search.
    2. You can stop or delete alerts anytime.

Manage and engage candidates

Add candidates to a project.

  1. Add candidates to a project to keep their profiles in one place.
    1. If you have a Professional subscription, you can share projects with your team and ask for feedback.
    2. Track notes, status updates, and alerts together.

Contact job seekers. 

  1. Message candidates who match your job.
  2. Use a message template or write your own.
  3. Choose the job post you're contacting them about, or add a new one.
  4. Review your message, then click Contact.
  5. We'll send up to three reminders if the candidate doesn't reply.
