Using Indeed Applicant Tag for Application Tracking

Indeed Applicant Tag (IAT) is a tool that helps employers track job applications. It works for companies that post jobs on their own career site or ATS, not directly on Indeed. With IAT, you can track completed applications that come from Indeed.

Use this tool if you want application data in Indeed Analytics and your ATS, but you don't post jobs directly on Indeed or use Indeed Apply. IAT helps you measure return on investment, improve campaign performance, and understand how candidates apply to your jobs.

How Indeed Applicant Tag works

Your Indeed representative will send you two JavaScript snippets.
1. One is for the job landing page.
2. The other goes on the page immediately after an application is completed.
When a job seeker clicks a job on Indeed, a tracking token is added to the landing page URL.
The first snippet saves this information in a first-party cookie.
After the application, the second snippet collects and sends the data to Indeed.

No personal information is collected; only that an application occurred.

The application will not be tracked if the job seeker does not complete it.

Requirements for using Indeed Applicant Tag

Job feed

Jobs must be in an XML feed.

Technical setup

Your ATS or website must:

Support JavaScript
Allow snippets on the landing page and post-application page

Matching domains

The landing page and the post-application page must share the same domain.

Legal compliance

In GDPR regions, you must have a cookie consent banner and mention Indeed in your privacy policy.
