U.S. Military Policies
Since January 31, 2022, Indeed requires more clarity for U.S. military job descriptions. This helps job seekers understand military service needs. The military can't use Smart Sourcing or other tools to promote roles that need enlistment or are not for a specific position.
Jobs that need military enlistment or commission must be sponsored. Jobs that don't need enlistment or commission can be posted for free. All military jobs must follow this policy to appear on Indeed.
This policy is currently enforced only in the US.
Policies for military roles
Civilian positions
Does the job need military service? If not, state in the description that it is a civilian position.
Medical, officer, and chaplain roles
These job posts must include:
- Military service requirements in the job title and description
- The military branch in the job title or company name
General enlistment roles
For roles that need military service:
- The job title must:
- State that military service is required
- List the military branch in the title or company name.
- The job description must:
- Explain enlistment rules and requirements
- State the minimum years of active duty or reserve enlistment required
- Focus on the general nature of enlisting. Don't target a specific job that someone could get by enlisting
