Adding or Editing Profile and Job Search Preferences
On this page, we'll explain how to add or edit your profile and job search preferences. You can change them in your profile, on a job post, or during the application process.

How to add or edit preferences
In your profile
- Click or tap Profile in the navigation or tap the profile icon.
- Open the Preferences tab.
- For Job preferences, use the plus icon to add or the pencil icon to edit.
In your Matching data
- Click or tap Profile in the navigation or tap the profile icon.
- Open the Matching data tab.
- Use the pencil icon to edit your Qualifications. Use the trash icon to remove details from the Not interested list.
Important: You may not be able to edit or remove some preferences in your Matching data.
On your homepage
- Go to the Indeed homepage.
- Check under your welcome message for the pay and location buttons.
- Blue buttons mean you have not added that preference yet. Grey buttons show what you saved.
- Click or tap a button to add or edit that preference.
By hiding a job
- Select the thumbs-down icon on a job you don't like.
- Select Update job preferences.
- Click or tap Not interested next to details that don't apply to you.
- Select Done to update.
In the job post
- Find Match Overview below the job details.
- Check if the qualifications listed by the employer match yours.
- Choose the checkmark if you have the requested skill or X if you don't.
- You can edit your choices under Matching data in your profile.
Did you know? Saying "Yes" adds an item to your Qualifications. Saying "No" adds it to Not interested.
What happens next
- Changes save to your profile right away.
- Labels in job posts show what matches and what does not.
- Your preferences won't change in the job search results.
