About Your Profile and Job Search Preferences

Your preferences help you find jobs that match your interests. They also tell employers more about your work history and qualifications. In this article, we'll explain the two types of preferences and how they affect your homepage and search results.

Types of preferences

Profile preferences

These preferences tell us what kind of job you want. They help us show jobs that fit your needs.

Profile preferences include:

  • Job titles. Add up to 10 job titles.
  • Work schedule describes when you'll work. For example, Monday to Friday.
  • Job types include full-time, part-time, contract, and temp.
  • Minimum base pay. This setting is the lowest pay you'll consider in your search.
  • Work areas. Choose up to three areas of work you're interested in.
  • Remote is your preferred work setting, whether in-person or remote.
  • Commute time. Add a maximum amount of time.
  • Relocation shows different jobs in locations other than your own.
  • Availability lets employers know that you can begin work right away.

Matching data preferences

Qualifications

These preferences tell us what you can do. They help us match your skills and experience to jobs.

Qualifications include:

  • Most recent work experience
  • Skills
  • Education
  • Certifications and licenses
  • Languages

Not interested

These preferences are details you don't want in a job. They allow us to filter out jobs that include them.

These could be:

  • Job titles
  • Skills
  • Certifications and licenses
  • Languages
Important: Employers won't see the preferences you've set as Not interested.

Where you'll find your preferences

On your homepage

  • Find your pay and location preferences under the welcome message.
  • You can add or edit your pay and location preferences using these buttons.

In your job search results

  • Match overview shows how your qualifications match what the employer is looking for.
  • Job details show how your preferences match the job.
