A personalized gift box business needed to hire employees to keep up with growing demand. When the company’s founder realized she couldn’t do it all by herself, she partnered with Indeed to build a team that feels like family.
Background: A gift box business brightening peoples’ days

Founded in 2018 by Anna Costello, Ship Sunshine is a curated gift box business based in Denver, Colorado that sends a mix of fun and practical gifts directly to peoples’ doorsteps.
Anna was inspired to start the business during a sunrise hike. “As soon as the sun came up, you just felt this sense of warmth and I kept thinking, gosh, we have to find a way to bottle that feeling, or I guess box it,” explains Anna.
Ship Sunshine curates boxes with products from local and women-owned companies, and includes personalized, hand-written notes. Customers can build their own box, or choose from a collection of gift boxes designed for celebrations like graduations, birthdays, housewarmings, weddings and more.
“I really just want to give people an easy option to let somebody know that they’re thinking of them. And give thoughtful gifts through the mail,” says Anna.
Challenge: Too busy to hire new staff
Ship Sunshine took off during the pandemic, as people wanted a way to stay connected with loved ones from a distance. When the day-to-day tasks of running Ship Sunshine started to demand the majority of Anna’s time, she knew it was time to hire additional help.
“I came to the realization that even some things that I could do, it made more sense to hire somebody to help with because it’s almost like buying your own time back,” explains Anna.
She was then faced with the challenge of finding quality employees while also running the operations of her business. That’s when Anna turned to Indeed. Her goal? Get the time-consuming hiring tasks off her plate so she could free up her time to focus on big-picture growth.
Solution: Sponsoring jobs to save time and effort
By using Indeed, Anna was able to add hours back into her week to make more time to grow her business.
“The idea of investing in finding the right candidate was a new concept to me particularly because I’ve tried to spend so much time and energy investing in my team itself, but it totally makes sense,” says Anna.
To increase the visibility of her job posts, Anna sponsored her jobs on Indeed. When you sponsor a job, you boost the visibility of your jobs in relevant candidate search results. Plus, you’ll only pay when you accept an application that meets your “deal breaker” requirements.1
If an application doesn’t meet your needs, you can reject it within 48 hours of receiving it to get a replacement application as soon as one becomes available.1
"Using Sponsored Jobs was kind of a no-brainer for me, especially because you only have to pay for [applications from] quality candidates.²"

Results: Finding great candidates in one week, not one month
With the help of Indeed, Anna was able to find quality candidates, faster. When compared to the previous methods she was using to find hires, Anna says: “The end to end hiring process was just so much more efficient [with Indeed]. I mean, it took a lot less time,” she says.
“Previously, it probably would take about a month to find a candidate. I think we ended up finding the right candidate and teammate using the Sponsored Job feature within a week.”
Not only did Anna find candidates more quickly than before, but she was also able to hire employees that bring value to her business.
“Building this company has just been such an important part of my growth and my development. I found a good mix of people. It feels like a family working here.”
