A not-for-profit, community-based medical system uses Indeed’s pay per click recruitment advertising to gain cost-effective, national exposure for its jobs.
Tuality Healthcare is a not-for-profit, independent, community-governed healthcare system serving a suburban area just west of Portland, Oregon. Tuality’s system consists of two separate facilities, the 167-bed Tuality Community Hospital and the 48-bed Tuality Forest Grove Hospital. In addition, Tuality provides a complete array of outpatient, specialty, health education and related services. Tuality chose Indeed’s pay per click recruitment advertising solution to receive national exposure on a not-for-profit budget.
Tuality began working with Indeed to increase its exposure on a national level. “Indeed is a top online location for job seekers from all over – we needed to have a universal presence and believed that we could accomplish this through Indeed,” said Erin Hardwick, Employment Coordinator for Tuality Healthcare. “It is extremely easy to sponsor jobs on Indeed and gain national exposure to top candidates.”
Previously, Tuality relied heavily on local publications, direct mail, medical journals and niche job boards to acquire quality applicants. Indeed provided a broader spectrum of job seekers in a low-maintenance, pay-for-performance environment.
“We are a not-for-profit, community-based hospital with many more budget constraints compared to some of the bigger providers,” Hardwick said. “So it’s crucial that we spend wisely and have as much control over our spending as possible.”
Tuality’s primary goal was to promote its brand in a high-traffic online space. “We initially used Indeed as an online marketing solution to gain better exposure for our easy-to-fill, entry-level positions,” Hardwick said. “However, the results far exceeded those expectations.”

Indeed consistently supplied Tuality with high-quality applicants for both its lower-level positions as well as its more difficult-to-fill jobs requiring a four-year degree plus additional certifications. “It is amazing just how qualified Indeed job seekers are – we were expecting to receive candidates for some of our easier-to-fill job openings and ended up hiring a Certified Cytotechnologist and a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.” Over a recent six-month period, Tuality tracked the following results in its HRsmart applicant tracking system:
- Averaged 30 quality applicants per month
- Approximately $10 per applicant
- Approximately $500 per hire
“When I look at the cost of Indeed, $10 per application and $500 per hard-to-fill hire are unbelievable,” Hardwick said.
