Frequently asked questions about Brand Ambassadors

What is the difference between a Brand Ambassador and an Influencer?

The main but subtle difference between a Brand Ambassador and an Influencer is that Brand Ambassadors typically promote a company’s products by speaking directly with customers whether over the phone, via message board or in-person. Their aim is to help customers understand their products and how they can benefit them by answering questions and responding to comments . In contrast, Influencers use  their personal social media accounts to pose with products  and in doing so, encourage their following to  purchase them.

A further distinction between the two is that Brand Ambassadors often have a more long-term or permanent role with a company. In contrast, companies typically hire I nfluencers on a temporary basis to help them gain the attention of a particular audience or promote a new product at its initial stage. Influencers have the potential to become Brand Ambassadors within a company if they work with them for a longer time frame.

What are the daily duties of a Brand Ambassador?

Typically, a Brand Ambassador starts the day working within a sales or marketing department at a company. They check on product pages and other review sites to see if there are any public questions or comments they can address. They may also take this opportunity to leave their own review of a company product or service. Throughout the day, they participate in meetings with the creative departments about sales numbers, new marketing campaigns and upcoming product launches.

Brand Ambassadors also have phone meetings with retail sellers and visit the seller’s location to discuss the selling of their company’s products in-store. They usually provide the store owner with key selling points, display tips and general information about the company itself.

What makes a good Brand Ambassador?

A good Brand Ambassador should be someone who displays a passion for your company and the products or services that you sell. They should have a personable nature, as they interact with potential customers both online and in-person. Brand Ambassadors should also have a strong understanding of marketing trends within your industry to contribute effective strategies to your sales and marketing campaigns.

Who Does a Brand Ambassador report to?

A Brand Ambassador typically reports to a Brand Manager to receive daily marketing tasks and ask questions about their job responsibilities. In smaller corporations, Brand Ambassadors report directly to the Marketing Manager or Marketing Supervisor for instruction.
