    JOB Title: Systems Administrator

    Scope:

    Perform functions to plan, monitor, maintain, update and provide security and support for the Airport’s computer assets including the network, servers, and virtual private network (VPN), in keeping with requirements of governing authorities including Sanford Airport Authority (SAA) policy, Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) regulations, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements and 14 CFR Part 139 Airport Certification requirements, working within the limits of established policy.

    Essential Duties:

  • Monitor and perform prescribed preventive maintenance across the organization’s computer asset inventory. Contribute to the planning and design of computer requirements to suit the organization’s business and operational requirements in keeping with SAA policy, FAA, and TSA regulations, and 14 CFR Part 139 Airport Certification requirements.

  • Maintain continuous, current awareness of emerging computer, telecommunications, surveillance and security technology, 14 CFR Part 139 Airport Certification, FAA and TSA resource requirements and regulations. Research applications and hardware as potential solutions and provide recommendations.

  • Monitor operation, maintain, install, and upgrade software and hardware assets across the network and ensure that systems are operating at optimal value. Ensure that data backup systems are operating as designed, implement recovery protocols as required, and maintain, update and repair the Airport’s operating systems, business applications, security tools, web servers, email, PC’s, and local and wide area networks (LAN and WAN) hardware and software.

  • Serve as Systems Security Officer to monitor and maintain computer security systems including surveillance, access control, and other monitoring and reporting systems. Ensure that security processes, software, hardware and related backup and restoration processes comply with all defined regulatory and licensing requirements and Airport policy.

  • Provide Help Desk support services to users to install, maintain, diagnose and repair operating problems, provide hardware and software operating guidance for resolution of common problems, and install updates,

    Other Duties:

  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.

  • Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.
