Job Title: Installation & Support Technician

Location: Richardson, TX

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and capable installation and support engineer/technician to deploy and provide technical assistance for our Emergency Notification Systems. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of VoIP Communications and preferred exposure to testing and supporting VoIP systems. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for installing, configuring and testing Forum Emergency Notification systems and secondarily providing technical support to customers and resellers.

The candidate must show some proficiency using VoIP/IP signaling and media troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, PuTTY, Traceroute, and others. Some experience with Linux and commands, knowledge of TLS signaling and certificates provisioning will be preferred. Proven track record of technical customer support is required. On-job training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-configure emergency notification server for customer specific infrastructure, end devices and call groups
  • Install, configure and test 6 – 8 emergency notification systems per year at different customer sites
  • Post training, deploy these systems individually with remote Forum support, as needed
  • Provide technical support to customers and select resellers via phone, email and remote access
  • Respond to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Troubleshoot regular and complex issues related to VoIP communication products and services
  • Document customer interactions and support activities in a clear and concise manner


  • 2-4 years of experience in telecom communication system installation and testing
  • Hands on experience with IP Network, VoIP, SIP, Signaling trace capture and related skills
  • Knowledge of Linux Commands and scripts
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Customer System troubleshooting incident tracking skill

Education: Associate Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent field experience is fine
