Position Title: On-Point/RESQ MentorLocation: Covina and Pomona, CAEmployment Type: Full-time 10 months (Seasonal)Hourly Rate: $20/hourWorking Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM

About Us: We are a dynamic and forward-thinking organization dedicated to promoting community development and enhancing the quality of life for students in Covina and Pomona, CA.

Program Overview: The On-Point and RES’Q mentorship programs take place on the high school campuses that we serve. They utilize restorative practices to help develop character, leadership, and social emotional support in hopes of improving the students holistically.

Position Summary: We are seeking a proactive, passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated mentor to work closely with at-promise youth in and out of a classroom setting. Our mentors will utilize restorative practices by providing quality mentorship through 1:1 sessions, facilitating groups, and home visits with our specialized curriculum. Sessions include, but not limited to: engaging discussions, quick activities, journaling, and wellness check-ins.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating groups and 1:1 mentoring sessions
  • Summoning students out of class to attend mentoring sessions
  • Capable of creating a well thought out weekly schedule for sessions
  • Serve as an example/role model
  • Responsible for meeting with mentees or parents/guardians on the agreed-upon time frame
  • Communicate with mentees weekly
  • Conduct daily home visits to referred clients
  • Plan and lead home visits for required schools
  • Provide schools with student updates
  • Meet one-on-one with referred students
  • Plan sessions focused on developing skills to help remove barriers of attending school
  • Establish appropriate boundaries/relationships with the students
  • Maintaining daily attendance and casenotes/data collection
  • Provide light administrative support to the program
  • Administering student surveys
  • Capable of navigating G-mail, Google drive, Google calendar , Google sheets etc.
  • Capable of confidently communicating with school administrators and teachers
  • Capable of communicating with guardians (call, email, text, in person)
  • Attend coalition/collaborative meetings with administrators/counselors/school partners
  • Work closely with supervisor
  • Participate in weekly program meetings
  • Act as a resource and guide to students
  • Be able to provide reliable transportation to students

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • College Degree from an accredited university - Recommended
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Live Scan
  • Submit current, clear TB (tuberculosis) test.
  • Must provide copies of Photo ID, Proof of Age and Primary Documentation of status as US Citizen, US National, or Lawful Permanent Resident prior to the start of service
  • Class C Licensed & Proof of car Insurance

Required Certificates/Trainings

  • CPR & First Aid certification (Obtain within two weeks of being hired)
  • Sexual Harassment training (Obtain within two weeks of being hired)
  • Mandated Reporting training (Obtain within two weeks of being hired)
  • WorkPlace Violence Prevention Training (Obtain within two weeks of being hired)
  • Pro-ACT (Obtain within two weeks of being hired)

Mental / Emotional Ability Requirements

  • Must be able to adapt to change in the work environment, accept criticism and feedback, effectively handle multiple tasks and competing demands, work cooperatively in group situations, and work actively to resolve conflicts
  • Must be able to cope with stressful situations that arise from working closely with at-promise youth and families.
  • Must be able to report any unlawful incidences

Transportation:

  • Have reliable transportation and are willing to commute to the assigned school campus.

Safety Requirements:

  • Ability to be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety protocols for school districts and organization policies and rules
  • Be willing to report safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel

Physical Requirements:

  • Meet the program essential job functions; reasonable accommodation upon request.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
