2nd Grade Teacher

Discovery School is a private International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) School in Mansfield, Ohio. We are seeking a Lower Elementary (K-2) Homeroom Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and managing a class of lower elementary students using an inquiry-based approach to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach and manage a class of lower elementary students using an inquiry-based approach and the IB PYP framework.
• Develop and implement a student-centered and differentiated curriculum that meets the needs of individual students.
• Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that promotes student learning, social-emotional development, and cultural understanding.
• Assess student progress using a variety of assessment strategies and communicate student progress to parents and colleagues.
• Collaborate with other teachers and school staff to support student learning and development.
• Participate in school-wide events and initiatives, including staff meetings, professional development, and parent-teacher conferences.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and attendance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field required.
• Ohio teaching certification required.
• Experience teaching in a lower elementary classroom preferred.
• Knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program framework preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to student-centered and inquiry-based learning.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
