50plus Activities Coordinator - Part-time; Starting at $17.47/hour; Un-benefited; 30-32 hours per week; Vacation and Sick leave accrual; Paid holidays; Retirement plan.
The 50plus Activities Coordinator has the primary responsibility of coordinating the activities and programs offered at their assigned 50plus Center. Under the direct supervision of and working together with the Site Manager as a team, they contribute to ensure a high level of professionalism in the provision of an environment that facilitates meaningful socialization and relevant, quality services.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports and promotes the mission of WorCOA and 50plus, supports all staff members, and represents the company in a highly professional, congenial manner.
- Implements and coordinates diverse, comprehensive, and safe programs in the areas of socialization, fitness, recreation, health maintenance, independent living, adult education, and special events.
- Coordinates scheduling of programs, volunteers and resources to ensure a variety of concurrent activities which support the 50plus Program mission in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintains required records and statistics for program and meal registration, collects accurate participation units, and coordinates evaluation surveys.
- Facilitates bimonthly center meetings, consolidates input for presentation at committee meetings and maintains minutes for center meetings.
- Assists Site Manager with agenda, minutes and conduction of center committee meetings as needed.
- Attends off-site 50plus events to monitor activities and ensure they run in accordance with program expectations. Ensures accurate participation units are collected.
- Facilitates integration of volunteers as appropriate.
- Handles inquiries from citizens, volunteers and participants concerning programs and policies and makes appropriate referrals.
- Works with the Site Manager to recommend policy and procedure enhancements for their site program and facility that could help their operations become more effective or efficient. Enhancements must be approved by the 50plus Program Manager before implementation.
- Reviews activity calendar and adds new and appealing activities that adhere to calendar requirements prior to the calendar submission deadline.
- Adheres to and enforces all WorCOA and 50plus policies and procedures.
- Facilitates trip transportation utilizing 50plus vehicles.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Well-developed socialization skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication necessary to communicate effectively with coworkers and program participants.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, keep records and complete written forms.
- Computer literacy and working knowledge of software: Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, Outlook & Power Point, with clerical skills sufficient to produce required documents in an acceptable format.
- High School diploma required; Associates degree preferred. Experience in recreation, senior services or a related field OR equivalent experience in senior services, adult recreation-leisure services, public transportation with passenger assistance or program management preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification required within 1 year of employment, if not already certified.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Ability to drive company vehicles for the transport of participants to off-site events. This could include an SUV, a minivan or a small bus.
