Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Associate Commodity Manager- Direct Materials.
This position reports to the Sr. Sourcing Manager- Direct Materials and they will be responsible for managing direct raw materials used in the manufacturing of finished products at JM production facilities as well as externally contracted manufacturing services. This includes managing supplier relationships and developing supply agreements to ensure JM maintains a competitive manufacturing cost position.
Johns Manville (JM) is headquartered in Denver, Colorado and employs approximately 350 people at the downtown headquarters, in areas such as finance, human resources, legal, corporate affairs, and information technology. Three of the four business groups, Engineered Products North America, Insulation Systems and Roofing Systems, are also headquartered here. Our fourth business unit, Engineered Products Europe/Asia, is headquartered in Germany. Johns Manville has manufacturing operations in North America, Europe and China.
This position does offer a relocation package to candidates who meet our relocation guidelines.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for raw materials and trading goods for resale with annual spend of $10-30M that may include: specialty chemicals, additives, sizing chemicals, inks, dyes, colorants, coating, printing, slitting and other related commodities as assigned
  • Negotiates supply agreements and develops executive summaries for review with the appropriate executive leadership team members for approval
  • Develop and implement cost reduction projects, establishes and maintains monthly scorecard metrics and updates that are then presented to JM senior leadership.
  • This position will be a liaison with the Supply Chain Sourcing Leaders and JM business units
  • Support sourcing team efforts to forecast, track, and report Engineered Products Americas raw materials and transportation spend in a timely manner
  • Support Global Binder & Sizing Sourcing Teams with multi-business unit team members to develop supply strategy, leverage resources, and reduce total costs
  • Lead and/or support projects with multi-functional teams to qualify new suppliers
  • Lead and/or support projects with multi-functional teams to identify alternate materials
  • Support initiatives for new product development
  • Manage supply agreements and agreement compliance
  • Ensure uninterrupted and sustainable supply of raw materials and Value-Added Contract Manufacturing Services to JM facilities and Customers
  • Conducts supplier workshops to identify annual cost savings opportunities and manages the activities to achieve the established cost reduction goal to ensure JM maintains a competitive position
  • Using various data sources, understand, track and report on market dynamics for all key materials under their responsibility
  • Bachelor degree in business, supply chain, chemical engineering or related field is required
  • Minimum of three years' experience in product management, sourcing/commodity management with a major company
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with an ERP system, preferably SAP
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Ability to think strategically and approach problems with an analytical mindset
  • Basic understanding of contract law, financial analysis and environmental regulations
  • CPSM or APP certification, preferred
