Chemist – Manufacturing Process Engineer
Full-time Position

Work with both Manufacturing and R&D to test and scale up laboratory formulations to larger volume production. Directly oversee raw materials logistics planning and manage 3 rd party vendor sourcing and production coating runs.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Prepare and testing solutions for laboratory and pilot production
  • Develop processes and techniques to produce materials meeting performance and quality specifications.
  • Prepare quantities of solutions required for manufacturing trials.
  • Recommend, test, implement and support ancillary coating equipment for short and long term manufacturing.
  • Define best manufacturing methods and 3 rd production vendors for longer term, larger volume manufacturing.
  • Develop process controls and test methods
  • Recommend and test new lamination techniques in line with coating processes.
  • Design and implement test procedures and evaluate and test films.
  • Establish and implement testing criteria for commercial films that enhance the performance of holographic films.
  • Develop procedures and identify equipment and/or outside facilities for high quality lamination and slitting.
  • Maintain inventory on materials necessary for production.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Good understanding of Organic Polymer chemistry
  • Special consideration given to experience with photopolymers and photo sensitive materials
  • Knowledge of coating methods and equipment.
  • Prior experience with scaling up laboratory formulations to larger volume production.
  • Strong process skills with proven detail oriented approach
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with customers and partners.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated meticulous style with proven ability to maintain accurate, detailed records.
  • Proven ability to present plans, test results, recommendations and solutions to peers and senior management
  • Ability to work as a team player.
Requirements
  • B.S. or Masters degree in Chemical Engineering or Organic Chemistry with 5 years experience in film coating and manufacturing
  • Experience in solution preparation, laboratory coating, pilot plant and manufacturing coating.
  • This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
