3M is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the Health Care Business Group located in Maplewood, MN. Be part of what’s next!

Job Summary :
The Critical and Chronic Care Solutions Division Laboratory provides core product and product development support to the Critical and Chronic Care Solutions Division. The laboratory supports material processing, testing, and development for health care tapes, dressings and self adherent bandages. The laboratory has a variety of development equipment ranging from pilot scale coating, mixing, slitting, and rotary converting lines.

This is a Monday-Friday, day shift opportunity.

Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Work closely with engineers in a lab setting to assist in research and development of new products and processes.
  • Conduct testing in accordance with ASTM protocols, documenting and reporting results.
  • Prepare, maintain, and operate equipment for products being evaluated, including mechanical setups that may vary with each process.
  • Fabricate products/prototypes for evaluations and consumer samples.
  • Set up and operate equipment in support of a variety of evaluations.
  • Work closely with support personnel to ensure equipment is operating safety and efficiently.
  • Ensure all regulatory and safety requirements are met.
  • Candidates may work with chemical, powders, adhesives, and syrups in the processes as well as for cleaning.
  • Other duties assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3+ years combined experience working in a manufacturing and/or pilot plant environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two year Technical or Associates Degree
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in testing or a lab environment that includes handling chemicals and materials
  • Experience with operating equipment and technologies, including but not limited to slitters, extrusion and/or rotary die converting
  • Intermediate computer knowledge
  • Strong technical and/or mechanical background
  • Self-starter with hands-on approach to problem solving
  • Experience interfacing directly with engineers during product development
  • Experience in GMP operations
  • Ability to work flexible/extended schedules if needed
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work well both in multi-disciplinary teams and independently
