We're excited to partner with a leader in the manufacturing and distribution of Industrial Flooring/Grating and Expanded Metal Products in seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Bourbonnais, IL.

The Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes. He / she develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supporting a major metalworking facility on equipment/machinery issues. Drive continuous improvement activities and capital improvements with focus on steel fabrication machinery. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

Works with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.

Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs

Provides root cause analysis and assists with problem solving for production process issues.

Work with other engineers on design of tools and fixtures.

Identify, justify and implement new manufacturing technology and replacement machinery.

Works with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products

Oversee the setup of new equipment.


Bachelor's Degree in Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical/Welding Engineering.


(5-10) years' experience as a manufacturing engineer in Metal Working, Steel Fabrication or Metal Stamping.

PLC Control Servo Control Knowledge. Coil Process Coil Knowledge (slitting welding forming and stamping.

(5- 10 years) as a manufacturing engineer in an industrial manufacturing environment involving the following equipment/processes: Welding, robotics, industrial electrical systems, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, coil slitting, presses (mechanical and hydraulic), AC/DC drives, AC power distribution, Machining (CNC & Manual), plasma/oxy fuel cutting and OH cranes.

Computer Skills: Working knowledge of AutoCAD (or equivalent), FEA, PLC programming, CAM software, maintenance planning software and ERP systems.
