Position Overview

The Engineering Supervisor for Electrode Build will be a key member of the R&D Engineering Services team in an aggressive product development environment to develop and commercialize next generation lithium ion technology. The position is an entry level management role focused on the daily supervision of Engineering Technicians and the execution of pilot production electrode builds. The role includes daily engineering support for the Electrode Build team and the leadership of engineering projects.

Primary responsibilities

Supervise Engineering Technicians to execute daily activities for pilot production builds

Develop and manage daily production schedule to optimize quality and throughput

Support development of Li-ion electrode processes (mixing, coating, calendaring & slitting)

Work with battery engineers and scientists to develop processes for new technology

Understand TS16949 quality specifications and ensure processes meet quality standards

Provide daily engineering support to improve process safety, quality and throughput

Benchmark, evaluate and implement new equipment to achieve state of the art coating capability for R&D

Specific Skills/Abilities

The position requires a high level of judgment, individual drive and flexibility to work in a rapidly developing environment. The successful candidate will be a resourceful problem solver with strong leadership skills, capable of managing people and technical projects simultaneously. Candidate must be hands on with a strong engineering aptitude. Experience with lithium ion technology and electrode build processes is preferred, but not required.


BS/MS degree in Chemical, Material Science, or Electrochemical Engineering

Minimum 5 years experience in related technical field/industry

A strong foundation in chemical processing and development is required

Understanding of electrode design and lithium ion technology preferred

Demonstrated leadership experience and capability is required

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required
