Full job description

The primary purpose of the Slitter Operator job is to help and assist the Slitter Operator to operate the slitting machine. The operator assistant will be responsible for measuring completed work pieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers. The Operator will examine completed work pieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Cross training associates or training new associates.
  • Work as a team member by helping the slitting operator to achieve production objectives.
  • Assist the slitter operator to in strict adherence to company safety standards.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all downtime and job notes as they pertain to production jobs.
  • Accurate data entry of all computer generated paperwork
  • Communicate information during shift changes to ensure that quality and production objectives are followed.
  • Prepare for current and future orders by making sure storage is stocked with enough supplies and cores are cut correctly.
  • Gather all trash from shift and empty dumpster.
  • Dispose of old plastic cores that are possible cut hazards.
  • Any other activities needed, instructed by the Shift Supervisor.
  • Deliver product rolls to the packaging area and weigh rolls accordingly.
  • Assist in the Packaging and labeling area as needed so they don’t fall behind or if you are caught up and waiting for rolls to come off slitter.
  • Physically receiving partial shipments and arranging shipping preparations
Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • A minimum of one year previous experience in warehouse management and well inclined
  • Must be able to operate fork lift machine
  • Must be able to read ruler and set up machine using complex measurement calculations.
Working Conditions

  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach and lift, stoop, kneel and carry
  • Requires use of, licensure for and ability to drive an automobile or take public transportation, stay in public facilities when required.
Must have at least 3 years experience slitting films.
