GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Head Coach or Aquatics Director, plans and implements the swim team program.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Interpret, communicate, and promote Y mission, goals, and objectives to department employees, volunteer leaders, members, and the community.
Be an active leader in membership retention goals and in the annual giving campaign.
Build and maintain positive relationships with members and staff.
Enforce all rules and regulations regarding aquatic safety as set forth by the YMCA of Roanoke Valley.
Coach must be present and ready to coach at required start time.
Coaches are responsible for developing and facilitating swim team practices based on swimmers’ abilities and goals.
Responsible for communicating swimmer’s goals and progress to coaches, parents, and swimmers.
Must attend all training events and meetings as assigned by supervisor.
Assists with the clean-up of facilities and equipment at the end of each practice or swim event.
ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Reports directly to the Aquatics Director or other Program Director and keeps him/her informed of plans, progress, and problems. Accountable for the success of the Swim Team programs in accordance with the goals of the YMCA of Roanoke Valley. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Must have one year of related coaching experience.

Must hold or obtain within 90 days:
Current Professional CPR certificaiton
Current AED certification
Current first aid certificaiton
Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard certificaiton desired
Principles of Competitive Swimming and Diving desired
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand, stoop, and kneel for extended periods of time, and have the ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Must have the ability to teach in the water for a minimum of three hours and perform the skills on skills check list.
