Full job description

The person in this position will analyze accessibility of key library resources and produce context appropriate tip sheets for navigating and using key resources with screen readers. These guides will be discoverable by screen readers on entry points to key resources and will allow users with screen readers to independently and more easily navigate the Libraries’ Website, as well as our third party tools such as database aggregators, e-journals, library software applications, etc. Preferred skills include experience preparing instructional documentation, experience with web accessibility and experience or interest in assistive technologies such as screen readers. Specific responsibilities will include testing Resource Navigation with Screen Reader Technology.

Use validation tools to assess key resources for web accessibility. Use various assistive technologies to evaluate key resources for navigability and document strategies to improve ease of use for each site. Prepare and test tip sheets. Collaborate with microgrant team and Assistive Technology Specialist to identify core information to include in tip sheets.

Prepare tip sheets and test with Assistive Technology Specialist. Require demonstrated ability to write instructional material and ability to work in a team environment. Preferred skills include knowledge of Web accessibility standards and experience with or interest in using assistive technologies (e.g., JAWS, etc.) to assess Web accessibility and site navigation.
